COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A strong, full-bodied Belgian Abbey-style beer. The traditional yeast strain that is used imparts a rich array of spicy and fruit-like flavors. The prominent clove and melon notes are complemented by the sweetness and alcoholic warmth of the beer. The appealing color of glowing orange makes this brew irresistible.

Pours a slight clouded gold. Nose is extremely doughy. Flavor is heavy with dough. There is the sweet tone as well that is not really overly strong. It is bit boisterous and bright, but it is very even and never changes as it progresses. Feel is thick and doughy on the tongue. Overall a pretty good example of a tripel I say. Especially for an American producer.

Cloudy, dark amber with quick white foam. Sweet nose with touches of pepper and coriander. Medium body. The taste balances the sweet and spice initially, but as it warms the malts become more pronounced as does the ABV. The finish is a little heavily sweet. tongue.

Backlog, Hazy orange gold color with a small to medium white head. Nose is apples, plums, belgian yeast, and molasses. Flavor is clove, wood, dark fruit, and orange skins. Very sticky and sweet for the most part. Not my favorite.

Just the way a triple should taste. Good representation of Belgium flavors and not too thick. Tap

This was poured into a chalice. The appearance was a hazy burnt yellow to orange color with a slim finger’s worth of white foaminess that dissipated within less than thirty seconds. No lacing. The smell had a sweet to lightly spiced "iced apples" with a slight crisp citrus coming in underneath. Light spice of coriander opens up and rounds out the aroma. The taste was mainly balanced between the sweet and the spice leaving a sweet fruity aftertaste leading into a wet sticky sweet fruity finish. On the palate, this one sat about a light to medium on the body with a fairly decent sessionability about it. Alcohol seems to be well hidden adding a light carbonation gracing to allow a nice smooth sweet stickiness rolling over my tongue. Overall, I say this was a pretty good Tripel. But I do wonder if Stoudt’s spelled that on purpose on the bottle, funny to me - don’t care enough either. Still, I would drink again.

Pours a golden/copper colour with lots of bubbles and a small head. Light citrus and bready aromas. Spicy flavours, maybe nutmeg, with a lasting finish and a nice aftertaste.

This, like every Stoudts that I tried, is a primo A-B+ rated beer. The aroma and flavor is yeasty, which I’m not the biggerst fan of. Otherwise I would have rated this a bit higher. Pours a faded orange/copper color with light carbonation and medium head. In addition to the yeast, the smell is fruit and a bit like perfume (maybe thats the cloves and/or spices?) Tastes slightly hoppy, a little bit on the sweeter side, traces of yeast, spices, malts. Has a nice kick and meant for sipping.

bottle @ Jungle Jim’s / Eastgate OH --- Hazy medium amber, off-white head cover, strips of lace. Light aroma of citrus and malt. Taste is toffee malt that adds mild hops on the swallow, then moves back to malt with added citrus and clove. A decent brew, not great.

joejames (510) - Jacobus, Pennsylvania, USA - NOV 30, 2014
Bottle to shaker glass. Pours cloudy golden yellow, small quick head, no lacing, suspended yeast particles. Aroma of clove, pepper and tangerine. Taste is sour with a sweet fruity background. Full bodied, lively carbonation, creamy mouth feel. Finishes sour with notes of clove, banana, citrus and yeast. Not bad.
