Straffe Hendrik Quadruple is a rich and intense dark Belgian ale. It is brewed with a subtle blend of specialty malts, which give the ale an extremely dark color and a chewy, malty complex character. The quadruple combines a clean dryness with a warm full bodied mouth feel and essences of fruit. Secondary fermentation in the bottle creates a living ale that can be aged and will have an evolution of taste profiles over time.

It is brewed by the last active brewery in the historical city of Bruges. The town archives first mention the brewery in 1546. Since 1856, the famous brewing family Maes-Vanneste has owned the brewery.

Light brown frothy head left a thick creamy cover on a very dark brown still body. Huge rich aroma of malt, demerara, dark spirits & spices. Medium to full bodied feeling thick & creamy on the palate with a pleasant tingle down the throat & a clean aft. Taste is much as the aroma with malt, brown sugar, blackberry, caramel & tangy orange finish.

Et ganske godt øl, passer til det meste av mat. Også behagelig som tørstedrikk. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

UPDATED: MAR 10, 2018 Strong but quite drinkable, especially as it warms to room temperature. Drink this beer and trim your beard. Bottle. Wilrijk, BE.

Bottle @Strawberry Thief, Bristol. Medium off-white head, dark ruby/brown colour. Aroma: rich fruity-berries, cherries, herbs, lighly spicy. Immediate sweet with dry/lightly alcoholic aftertaste. Full body, long finish, average carbonation. Amazing!

One of the richest Belgium beers I’ve ever tasted. Dark aromas with a hint of caramel makes this one of my favorites. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
