Sweet malty and roasty nose, brown sugar, caramel, dark fruit, raisins, plum, cloves, chocolate, coffee, some alcohol; opaque ruby brown color, small, frothy tan head, dissipates rather quickly, thin layer reamins, good lacing; medium sweetbitter, roasty, coffee; full-bodied, oily to creamy texture; smooth bittersweet finish, roasty and fruity notes. A well balanced beer with well hidden alcohol. Great. dnicolaescu (2616) - Chișinău, MOLDOVA - MAY 15, 2013
Head: beige, medium, frothy, avg. retention. Colour: deep amber-brown, almost black.
Aroma: tropical fruit, grapes, fresh and minty hops and a fair amount of sharp vodka-like alcohol. Taste: rather sweet, licorice, rather bitter and spicy with a quite brutal alcoholic note. CraftBeerNick (2615) - London Town, Greater London, ENGLAND - FEB 13, 2017
Bottle at Cambrinus, Bruges, 12th February 17. Pours pretty much black. Aroma is liquorice, dark fruit, prune, wood. Taste is sweet and bitter, liquorice, spice, really smooth, dark fruit, prune juice, so drinkable. Great Quad. ciocanelu (2605) - Timisoara, ROMANIA - APR 24, 2014
UPDATED: DEC 15, 2015 Dark brown color when held towards the light. Large head with very good retention and lacing.
Sweet malt and brown sugar in the aroma. Also quite boozy.
After tasting I was surprised. It wasn’t as sweet as I expected, and I liked that. Also it didn’t feel like 11% ABV.
Medium body with light carbonation. Easy to drink in spite of the high ABV.
Overall a very nice quad, I enjoyed it more than some of the bigger names. rikstar (2604) - NETHERLANDS - JUL 13, 2013

October 2011. From a 750 ml. corked bottle. Poured amber color with a white head. Aromas of dark fruit, brown sugar, yeast and caramel. Very nice ale. Dorwart (2598) - Robbinsville, New Jersey, USA - AUG 15, 2012
Nice strong milk chocolate colored head of fine and dense bubbles. Rich malty aroma with some milk chocolate, sweet malts, raisins and plums. Color is a deep mahagony brown. Lively mouthfeel with more raisins, caramel malts and a feint hint of tart cherry. Light alcohol presence which is quite surprising for an 11% brew. Surprisingly dry finish with lingering sweet malts and alcohol warming. A pretty good brew. RW80 (2588) - Hoogeveen, NETHERLANDS - FEB 9, 2014
Appearance: Transparent reish brown pour, thin unstable cloudy head
Aroma: Belgian yeast, Esters, red fruit fruit.
Taste: Bittersweet with dark fruits, a hint of chocolate and caramelised malts. In the finish it shows some light spices and the alcohol peaks just a bit too much trough.
medium body, Oily Texture (less smooth as the heritage version.), medium carbonation, GothGargoyle (2587) - Vancouver, British Columbia, CANADA - MAY 24, 2014
Rusty brown with a fluffy beige head. Aroma is raisins, brown sugar, apricot, dates, honey, caramel. Full bodied, sweet and complex on the palate, long finish with a little booze. Flavours are raisins, brown sugar, toffee. vinivini (2586) - Gomel, BELARUS - FEB 5, 2017
Pours opaque brown with ruby highlights. Huge frothy beige head. Perfect retention. Big dried fruit aroma. Prune, raisin, dates. Very vinous. Slightly phenolic. Medium body. Velvety mouth feel. Brandy-filled chocolates, caramel malts, toffee, dried fruit, powerful warmth still no real alcoholic feel. Light bitterness is a mix of hops and spirits. All in all this is a model quad. Complex. Very good and no distinct point I guess.
