COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Straffe Hendrik Quadruple is a rich and intense dark Belgian ale. It is brewed with a subtle blend of specialty malts, which give the ale an extremely dark color and a chewy, malty complex character. The quadruple combines a clean dryness with a warm full bodied mouth feel and essences of fruit. Secondary fermentation in the bottle creates a living ale that can be aged and will have an evolution of taste profiles over time.

It is brewed by the last active brewery in the historical city of Bruges. The town archives first mention the brewery in 1546. Since 1856, the famous brewing family Maes-Vanneste has owned the brewery.

Dark, really good beer. Creamy head. Slight after taste or would be perfect. I bought at random in a Liege Belgium grocery along with three others. This was definitely the best of the group. Not as sweet as Rochefort 10 (my favorite other than Westvleteren 12) but good enough that I will definitely recommend and buy again.

Poors dark red brown with medium, mocha head, oily, not to say syrupy... Taste medium: some dark fruits, more sour red fruits, caramel, nice taste of alcohol too, but distinctly sweet, somewhat sticky even. Alcohol wel hidden, considering. Mediocre, simply not in the same league as the likes of rochefort, westvleteren, st. Bernardus,... Forgettable: if Rochefort 10 is RAFC, this is Beerschot-Wilrijk...

UPDATED: JAN 12, 2018 Dark, dark ruby with a beige head. Clear. Aroma a bit week but taste is enourmos. Figs, dates, raisins and still not overwhelmingly sweet. Great balance with the typical Belgium yeastiness. A distinct bitterness at the end. Fantastic!

Fine abbey beer, surely comparable to the best Belgians that play the same game, it follows taste and aroma perfectly.

Bottle. Clear ruby / red beer with average tan head with good duration. Aroma of caramel, dried fruits, cherries, plums, dates, light nuts. Taste is medium to heavy sweet and light to medium bitter, caramel, dried fruits, cherries, plums, dates, raisins, light nuts and spices. Bittersweet fruity finish. Medium to full body, oily texture, average carbonation. Very good quad with nice malty and estery character.

Gran cerveza, una cudruple de libro, aromas a pan y a frutas, espuma persistente, sabores dulces, explosin en boca. Repito las veces que hagan falta

Rich sweet malts with floral textures. Fruit cake prunes. A decent quadruple but lacking the silky textures needed to bring it to the next level. Gets you a lovely sort of drunk though. With thay deep rich molases. Typical example of an exceptional style.
