COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Straffe Hendrik Quadruple is a rich and intense dark Belgian ale. It is brewed with a subtle blend of specialty malts, which give the ale an extremely dark color and a chewy, malty complex character. The quadruple combines a clean dryness with a warm full bodied mouth feel and essences of fruit. Secondary fermentation in the bottle creates a living ale that can be aged and will have an evolution of taste profiles over time.

It is brewed by the last active brewery in the historical city of Bruges. The town archives first mention the brewery in 1546. Since 1856, the famous brewing family Maes-Vanneste has owned the brewery.

Bottle drunk at home day after buying so cloudy and yeasty. This is a fantastic quad! I shall ttry another after a few weeks in the cellar and will probably give it 20/20. Superbe prune and malt flvour without a sticky sweetnessand a fine carbonation.. SH beers are, for me, amogst the best Belgians. I’m surprised that this gets such a low average score!

This was is a great, complex beer with a great aroma and palate. Flavors kept coming far after the beer travels past your tongue. Enjoy!! ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle - a near black, near perfect beer. This was quality. Lots of liquorice, coffee, chocolate, fruit, malt... oh, so many. Very complex beer, well balanced with a boozy warm kick at the end. Need another now! Waiter!

Une bière avec beaucoup de goût. Goût huileux que j'adore. Dommage que elle se digère difficilement. Une de mes préférées malgré tout.

UPDATED: OCT 7, 2014 Ottima quadrupel.

Backlog. Bottel shared with JMD at HNB 11.05.13. Dark brown. Fantastically nice beige head. Aroma of hops and berries. First taste is of dark berries, then of refreshing hops. Aftertaste is of dark malt with hop bitterness that lingers on. Average carbonation. A suberb beer, and the best quadrupel I’ve tasted.

33cl bottle purchased online. 11%alc/vol. Pours a deep ruby brown colour with two finger of lasting head. Nice head retention. Aromas of Belgian yeats, dark cherries, plums, and whiff of banana. Incredibly complex taste that matches the aroma with a fruity backbone. A subtle floral hop note hits on the finish with a touch of pepper that sears into a nice warming booze. It’s definitely a top-tier quad.
