COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Straffe Hendrik Quadruple is a rich and intense dark Belgian ale. It is brewed with a subtle blend of specialty malts, which give the ale an extremely dark color and a chewy, malty complex character. The quadruple combines a clean dryness with a warm full bodied mouth feel and essences of fruit. Secondary fermentation in the bottle creates a living ale that can be aged and will have an evolution of taste profiles over time.

It is brewed by the last active brewery in the historical city of Bruges. The town archives first mention the brewery in 1546. Since 1856, the famous brewing family Maes-Vanneste has owned the brewery.

Got this bottle from @Beergium a few days ago and today it’s #friday so why not open it?

Best before May 2019 so it should be drinkable... ;)

The beer pours hazy, dark brown, nutty colour. Beige, fluffy, creamy, beige head.

Nose: Nuts, toffee, roasted caramel malt, molasses, raisin and candied sugar.
Taste: Oh! This is good! Again candied sugar, molasses, nuts, oak, spices, black pepper, brown sugar, raisin, dried fruit, almond, coffee and honey. The taste gives so much more than the nose! I’m impressed!
Mouthfeel: Creamy, soft, sweet and bitter. A bit alcohol warmth. Medium body. High carbonation.

A bottle of LOVE!

vinivini (3134) - Gomel, BELARUS - FEB 5, 2017
Pours opaque brown with ruby highlights. Huge frothy beige head. Perfect retention. Big dried fruit aroma. Prune, raisin, dates. Very vinous. Slightly phenolic. Medium body. Velvety mouth feel. Brandy-filled chocolates, caramel malts, toffee, dried fruit, powerful warmth still no real alcoholic feel. Light bitterness is a mix of hops and spirits. All in all this is a model quad. Complex. Very good and no distinct point I guess.

Gran cerveza belga. Tomada en copa a partir de botella de 33 cl. Aroma muy intenso y agradable, aspecto oscuro con corona de espuma beige constante. Un sabor muy interesante que combina lo dulce con lo amargo (tiene notas de toffe) y un paladar similar.

Taste- lots of dark fruit- cherry, raisin, plum, red wine, hints of marzipan and vanilla, fruitcake, banana bread, brown bread, boozy fruit. Some chocolate and coffee as it warms. Mouthfeel is fluffy and quite full. Very nice.

330ml bottle. Pours a hazy deep ruby chestnut, with a large light beige head, which lasts very well and leaves excellent lacing. Spiced fruit, candied orange peel and port notes make up the aroma. Light spice hops up front lead into sweet spice and stewed fruits in the mid-palate. Dark treacle malt leads into port in the finish. A very enjoyable quad.

Draft at Dario’s Brasserie. Pours Coca-Cola brown with a thick khaki head. Leaves a shitload of lacing in the glass. Lots of dark fruit and caramel malt on the nose and tongue. Has a bit of sweetness on the tongue but nothing too cloying. Finished clean. Hides it’s booze very well. This stuff is drinking way too quickly.
