COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Straffe Hendrik Quadruple is a rich and intense dark Belgian ale. It is brewed with a subtle blend of specialty malts, which give the ale an extremely dark color and a chewy, malty complex character. The quadruple combines a clean dryness with a warm full bodied mouth feel and essences of fruit. Secondary fermentation in the bottle creates a living ale that can be aged and will have an evolution of taste profiles over time.

It is brewed by the last active brewery in the historical city of Bruges. The town archives first mention the brewery in 1546. Since 1856, the famous brewing family Maes-Vanneste has owned the brewery.

Pours a very dark bronze brown with a large creamy tan head. The aroma is slightly hoppy with some sweetness and fruit. Taste is sweet & creamy with some caramel and spice, with bitterness in the background and a light warming from the alcohol. Very smooth body with high drinkability and a very low alcohol presence. This beer has a long shelf life and I look forward to trying it months or even a year or two from now. Great quad!

Pours a nice brown with creamy beige head that lasts a while. Aroma is malty with dark fruit. Flavor starts sweet, with dates, plums, and raisin notes. This is followed by sweet dark malt with no tannins or unpleasant notes to it. Finish is mildly bitter. Its everything I look for in a quad. Excellent.

On tap at the brewery on 9/11/15. Big dark brownish tan body. Tons of Deep toffee flavor. Slightly spicy up front, but finishes with a nice dark fruits/dates taste.

from a bottle: this is a fine quadrupel! Fine, well-formed foam, moderate lacing, subtle aroma, faint smoky taste. There may be other Belgian quadrupels that equal it but I havent had one that surpasses it. Perfect slow sipping beer, nice feel on the tongue well after each sip. Dont hesitate to try it if this sounds good to you.

Awesome beers. This is my favourite style by far. The complexity of these belgian quad beers never stops to impress me. The rich taste, incredible aroma and several great features you can explore and rediscover every time you try one, makes this beer always a great experience. Every time you show one of these beers to a cheap lager drinker is a cool experience everybody should try. It is a completely diferent product. Talking about the beer: looks awesome! Nice brown, warm color. Awesome aroma, you can feel caramel, chocolate, toffee, alcohol, molasses, fruits... Just put your nose inside the glass and keep sniffing and you will discover new aspects. It is funny to see people looking uncomfortably at you. The taste is as good as the smell. Rich, creamy, heavy, oily, strong liquor. It is like an espresso doppio. Strongly recommended. What a beer!!

UPDATED: MAR 17, 2016 Muy buena. Tiene un aroma frutal, como la sidra. Tiene bastante cuerpo y no demasiado gas. Deja un sabor peculiar para una quadrupel.
