fkoolen (1215) - Maastricht, NETHERLANDS - JAN 5, 2017
Bottle at home, great glassware btw. Intriguing amber colour, clear: big foamy white head. Nicely complex Belgian triple bittersweet malty and peppery-yeasty notes. Good body, lively carbonation.

Golden, not total clear beer. Big white head. Small notes of citrus and orange. Quite spicy and a good bitter taste which lasts long. Good beer.

Pours a slightly hazy orangish yellow golden color with white head. Yeast, hay, citrus, grass, and some bready notes on the nose; follows onto the palate. Medium bodied. Finishes with citrus and yeasty notes.

Goudblond bier met witte schuimkraag. Geur: moutzoetig, gist, wit fruit, alcoholisch. Smaak: fris, bitter, groen, en wat moutzoetigheid. Medium koolzuurprikkel. Afdronk: bitter.

Van ’t vat in Koklikoo. Goudblond/licht amberkleurig bier met witte schuimkraag. Geur: mout, granen. Smaak: licht zoet, mout. Redelijke koolzuurprikkel. Afdronk: licht bitter. Lijkt verdacht veel op Straffe Hendrik, maar iets neutraler?

I’m thinking I shouldn’t have opened this massive bottle at 11:30 - I’ll be hung over until 2017. Foamy whitish head on top, cloudy stuff below. Ok, so after 1.5hrs of pinball research im pretty trashed and i gots me a thrid of a bottle left to slug back - sually a hint that the review will be shit. The aroma has change a bit but not that much from when i first poured it . smewlls dry. warming, slight floral quality, light spcie, hiding white soap bar, ok yeast, grain. A slow and deep pull of hte nose lends to a soft and sublte aroma at this stage of the warming process minus a hell of a lopt of complexity but it smells really good as a single entity holy shit im babbling. It’s l;ike im stoned or soemthing. so yea, it smells decent. I htink its probably one of those ’cant pick this apart’ smells as its just pretty good but nothing standout. guess that means its pretty good. taste pretty good with a changing impressson. Nnot thie prominent quality but it seems acidic. bit of alc heat at this point.=, ok sweetness, no sugar standout, pcanned peaches, honey, cloves. I’ve enjoyed this but probably not enough. I’m just starign a push to revisint a ton of belg bigbeers, etc(mainly strongs). a style ive neglected but always loved. I dont thin k this stands out waht so ever except from the fat taht it doesnt really have many flaws.......sigh. Sum this up as : pretty unremarkable. Quiet beer that doesn’t satisfy on low levels of perfection from subtleness. When I want excellence without flash I will always find that succulent bottle of Dageraad Blonde.

Panzerfaust (849) - Hanga Roa, Easter Island, CHILE - DEC 4, 2016
330ml bottle from Beer Square, Santiago. Pours a gorgeous lively orange color with vertical ascending bubbles and a big white frothy head that lasts long and leaves a good film. Aroma is fruity and spicy with some grainy quality. Mostly orange dominated, it has additional notes of cardamom, bread crust, hay, mandarines and tangerines. Really good. Taste is sweet, nicely fruity and sweet. Again orange and tangerine flavors are very strong, but it’s complimented well by a boozy quality that burns at the end. Intense Tripel with character. Thick, boozy and over the top. Less refined than Karmeliet or Westmalle, for example, but still great and holding its own.

VueltaBirrista (104) - Murcia, SPAIN - DEC 3, 2016

BlackHaddock (7346) - Shropshire, ENGLAND - DEC 2, 2016
On tap in ’Beers Yesterdays World’ a bar within an antique shop (Brugge) on 27th Nov 2016. Very surprised I have never rated this beer before as I am a regular visitor to Belgium and Brugge in particular and often default to this when I want a rest from ’new beers to rate’. This beer is so common I obviously thought I had written about it years ago. Anyway, I am righting this wrong now. Classic Triple in every way: copper in colour, lasting deep head and semi-sweet molasses to the fore with an alcohol bite: what’s not to like?

Doordeweekse tripel. M: Semi-volmondig met medium carbonatie.

Kampfar (266) - Osnabrück, GERMANY - NOV 24, 2016
From 0.33 L bottle, pours murky, medium brown coloured with a white head. Aroma grainy, light bread, slightly yeasty. Taste is medium sweet with a malty character. Very little alcoholic later on, which is fitting well. Medium long, sweet and light bitter finish. Full mouthfeel with a creamy consistence and soft carbonation. Great one, as I expect a tripel to be!
