oldrtybastrd (5228) - Fort Walton Beach, Florida, USA - APR 19, 2016
Pours a hazy orangish amber color. Aromas of strong malts, citrus, fruit, and alcohol. Flavor big malt taste with fruity finish. Long malt aftertaste.

Cybercat (6346) - Georgia, USA - MAR 3, 2015
Pours barely translucent chocolate brown with a think buff head. Aroma has malty and cinnamon candy notes. Flavor echoes the notes of the aroma and adds some caramel to the mix. Texture is fairly firm and fizzy, and leaves a rather sweet finish.

Suttree (6543) - Knoxville, Tennessee, USA - SEP 30, 2014
Deep mahogany, thin beige head. Smells like prune, apple & pear, plus some oak. Taste is sweet, but not as sweet as I was fearing. It’s plenty heavy, too, but not overbearing. Lots of fruity flavors, but also some rum and and some pine in the finish. Enjoyed this more than I anticipated.

Shag (3061) - Chattanooga, Tennessee, USA - APR 5, 2014
This poured a dark amber to brown color with a beige head. The aroma contains some caramel, dark fruit, molasses, and some musty notes possibly from age? The flavor is rather malty with some raisins, grapes, chocolate, toffee, amd molasses. Only a hint of citrus in the finish. This is very much in the English style. Im liking it!

SpringsLicker (3685) - Tennessee, USA - DEC 21, 2013
This pours clear dark brown with lots of ruby under a large mocha head. Sweet candy aroma. The flavor is sweet, moderately complex with brown sugar and dark fruits. Some alcohol comes through towards the finish. This could probably use a little age on it to suit me better.

Ibrew2or3 (8913) - Tempe, Arizona, USA - NOV 6, 2013
22oz bottle pours courtesy of Dak. It has a clear amber body with ruby red hues and supporting a tan head of foam. The aroma offers up big somewhat harsh cherry and booze but then some molasses, thick sweet malts and brown sugar covered sweeter cherry notes come in and help smooth it out. The taste has full firm notes of cherries, molasses and then a nice brown sugar coated cherries and prunes sort of sensation. It begins to lean toward resiny hops toward the finish that seem to poke up here and there. This seems a little rough around the edges but nothing a bit of cellar time won’t smooth out.

daknole (11048) - Scottsdale, Arizona, USA - SEP 27, 2013
Brown pour, medium sized light head. Flavors of brown sugar, resiny hops, honey, toasted cereal grains. Quite tasty.

dnstone (3745) - Kansas City, Missouri, USA - SEP 13, 2013
A deep amber-brown color with soft suds of off-white head. Malty-sweet aroma. Chewy, roasted malty flavor...moderately sweet and rounded with a touch of earthiness in the finish.

Westmeister (2127) - Atlanta, Georgia, USA - SEP 9, 2013
Amber pour with tan head and some bits of lace here and there. Nose is big sweet caramel malts, dark fruits alas, boozy. Taste confirms the sweet caramel, but to another level of sweet. More toffee, booze and dark fruits. In a night were we had 3 other amazing barleywines, this one took a backseat. Just overly sweet for me. Still decent.

nearbeer (5671) - Knoxville, Tennessee, USA - AUG 28, 2013
650 ml. Clear dark mahogany with a lasting smattering of creamy bubbles. Aroma is molasses, orange toffee and cocoa. Tastes of raisin, molasses, resiny wood, tea leaf, citrus zest, and some cured tobacco. Medium body is balanced, has a smooth carbonation and hides the abv fairly well. Nice blend of the English and American BW styles.
