Loved it. Similar to the bourbon barrel variety but didn’t punch you in the face as much with the liqour overtone. This was an improvement to the already good laika. jsh12bama (681) - Alabama, USA - JUN 23, 2012
Draft at Leroy’s. Pours jet black with thin tan head. Aroma of roasted malt, vanilla, chocolate, and light notes of coffee. Taste is huge chocolate flavor. Nice thick mouthfeel. Not getting much from the barrel. Very good.

Draft sampled at Magic City Brewfest. Poured black with a small brown head. Aroma and flavor are boozy, roasted malt, coffee, milk and bitter chocolate, cherries and prunes. The cognac barrel would seem to boost the booziness and add some vanilla. Very tasty; relatively restrained for a RIS. Itzjerm (2866) - Taft, Tennessee, USA - MAY 25, 2012
This is a nice balanced imperial stout. Over the time I think it has mellowed out. Oak aroma comes out, however flavor is nice and balanced. Does not have the bite of many russian imperial stouts, Has slight brandy sweetness at the end. Top notch!
