COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A German kolsch-style ale formerly known as Stop Work 689, Sand Island Light House was renamed to commemorate our finally covering the entirety of our home state in 2013. Sand Island Light House is the southernmost point in Alabama. Crisp, clean and refreshing, Sand Island is available year round in cans and draft formats. Mildly sweet with a touch of Tettnanger hop bitterness in the finish, it is the perfect brew for warmer weather or anytime of year.

Can. Light golden with small white head. Aroma of malt and butter notes. Some malt sweetness upfront, nut notes, and some hop bitterness. Not their best offering.

Sand Island Light House has an extremely thick, spongy off-white head, with tan notes, at points, a fiercely bubbly golden-straw appearance, and quite heavy lacing left behind. Aroma is of sharp, biscuit, barley notes, some lemon, cracker, and strong, pale barley. Taste is of sweet malt, soda cracker, lemon, buttermilk biscuit, with a mild, yet sharp hot bitterness. Mouthfeel is medium, and Sand Island Light House finishes crisp and refreshing. RJT

Poured from the can into a pint glass. The appearance is a hazy bright yellow with a large white head. The aroma is packed with fruit and yeast. The taste is a crisp with a nice hop flavor. The beer is heavily carbonated.

Very floral, lemony hop aroma. A bit of scuppernong fruitiness in the back. Not a bad beer at all.

Pours a slightly hazed darker golden color with white head. Cereal grains, light hop grass, and some malt on the nose; follows onto the palate. Light bodied. Finishes pretty clean.

12 oz. can from shrubber85 - thanks again, Roger! Pours a barely cloudy gold color with a big fizzy white head that settles into a film and sloppy ring. Notes of straw, grass, light citrus zest, banana chips, toasted sugar, cracker, and a bit of minerals. Light-bodied, with high carbonation and a crisp mouthfeel. Decent Kolsch. Good canned offering.

12 ounce can thanks to my friend Jason. The beer is a clear gold color with a white head of foam. The aroma has grainy aspects with notes of honey and light ginger. A bit grassy as well. The taste is more of the same, but some fruity notes creep into the picture. More bready notes come through as the beer begins to warm, which I vastly prefer. Maybe I started too cold. Lighter to medium body and plenty of carbonation. Decent beer.

rollinsr (622) - Atlanta, GEORGIA - JUN 9, 2015
Pours clear yellow/straw color with with thick and bubbly white head. Aroma is yeasty with a small amount of spice. Flavor is indeed crisp but offers very little else. There still is a hint of spice but there are metallic off-flavors as well that ruin the overall experience.
