12 oz can from tavour. Smells of burnt cotton candy and cola. Tastes of butterscotch, brown sugar and deep caramel. Tastes more like a barley wine than an ale. jsnicholas (733) - Woodinville, Washington, USA - FEB 14, 2018
Can (12oz). Brown with thin tan head. Whiskey aroma. Taste is dark fruit and a little sweetness, some whiskey, finishing with some alcohol warming. Nice Aggiebob (1476) - Huntsville, Alabama, USA - DEC 28, 2017
UPDATED: DEC 28, 2017 Draft. It poured a murky reddish brown color with a mocha lace ring. It has a strong dried fruit aroma with notes of figs, raisens, plum, and mollases. The ABV is in your face at first but mellows with time. Not for the faint at heart. Bacchus66 (1162) - South Carolina, USA - JUN 8, 2017
12oz can. Pours reddish-brown, thin tan head. The nose will wake you up, lots of whiskey notes, caramels, raisins. Flavors similar, adding more bourbon barrel and lots of alcohol. Long hot finish. Wasn’t expecting it to be this good. koleminer20 (4371) - Ann Arbor, Michigan, USA - FEB 6, 2017
From notes. Enjoyed at the 4th Annual Barleywine Tasting at Nicole’s house on January 28. 22 oz bottle. The pour is very similar to Illudium; dark brown-ish copper with a thicker tan head and a couple spots of lace as it disappears. The aroma is good. There is a light bourbon, a hint of caramel sweetness, a good dark fruit addition, charred oak, and a hint of vanilla. This is nice. Where the Illudium goes to cognac sweetness, this has a nice bourbon addition to keep it in check. I like it. The flavor is much of the same. The bourbon balances a little better than the cognac. The caramel, light dark fruits, smooth chocolate, hints of bourbon and charred oak, and just a touch of vanilla are excellent. The mouth feel is a touch light and well carbonated with a lingeringly smooth caramel and vanilla bourbon finish. I like this one a bit.

At the Barleywine event. Aroma is caramel, toffee, hops, barrel, booze. Apperance is amber brown, light tan head, mostly clear. Taste is caramel, hops, booze, barrel, slight molasses, toffee. Mouthfeel is medium body, light carbonation, booze and caramel aftertaste. Overall, I preferred this to Illudium. hopscotch (11524) - Vero Beach, Florida, USA - JAN 15, 2017
Bottle... This beer rocks!... Pours clear and deeply copper with a small, fleeting, mushroom-colored head. The aroma is a mélange of dried plum, demerara sugar, vanilla and candied dried dark fruits. Full-bodied with a sticky mouthfeel and soft carbonation. The flavor features maple, caramel and tons of whiskey, but with minimal boozy heat. Lengthy, tangy, nutty finish. Thanks to newcigarz for sharing this world-class beer! MetalNHopHead (2332) - Lincoln, Nebraska, USA - DEC 5, 2016
Straight to Ale? Unobtanium seems more fit to send your ass straight to bed. This warm, malty, boozy brew is potent and full-bodied. It’s also a stunning Old Ale. Deep brown color that’s pretty only in the way that English-style malt bombs can be. Rich oaky, boozy aromatics. Brown sugar, molasses, toffee, coconut, and vanilla flavor characteristics. The feel is full yet smooth. It’s an English-style ale with some Southern heat. It’s damn hard not to love. HuskerTan (2528) - Ravenna, Nebraska, USA - DEC 3, 2016
(Thanks, James! "jbruner")

O- What a way to knock off Alabama. A real nice sipper. I feel bad for folks in Alabama that can’t enjoy this on a cold snowy winter day. Reminds me a lot of Founders Backwoods Bastard. Good stuff. Drake (14441) - Milwaukee, Wisconsin, USA - SEP 11, 2016
Bottle shared at the MDBG tasting 4/4/16. Dark brown, no head. Aroma of grapes, caramel, raisin, chocolate. The taste is grapes, toffee, toasted malt. Medium bodied, mild booze.
