330ml bottle from Strands brewery. Poured into chalice glass, opaque reddish amber with a thin white head. Powerful malt with strong fruit notes of rosehip syrup on the long sweet aroma. Creamy mouthfeel with excellent lacing. Mixed malt complex gives strong madeira sponge cake base with powerful boozy notes of Grand Marnier. There is a slight orange citrus note to the short bitter aftertaste which really fades fast. Finish is powerful malt with Seville oranges evident in the mouth. An amazing Barley wine that pulls you into a sleep induced coma! This is strong stuff and the high OG is very apparent!

Cask at the NWAF 2012, Manchester. Clear dark brown amber with thin to no head. Hmmm lovely barley wine aroma, boozy and cakey. Right up my street. There is some alcohol present in the flavour but I thought it was almost...subtle? Tasty!

Cask (gravity) @ NWAF 2012, National Winter Ales Festival, The Venue, Sheridan Suite, Manchester, England.

Clear medium to dark red - brown amber color with a small to average, frothy, good lacing, mostly lasting to diminishing, off-white head. Aroma is moderate to heavy malty, caramel, riped fruit, sweet fruit, sugar, moderate alcohol. Flavor is moderate to light heavy sweet and moderate bitter with a average to long duration. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft to flat, finish feel is light alcoholic. [20120118]

On cask at the 2012 NWAF, Manchester. Pours a brown colour with a thin, light tan head. Aroma is absolutely lovely with higher alcohols, raisins, candy sugar, plums and alcohol. Similar flavours with a dry finish and a long alcohol hum. Mild carbonation and an oily mouth-feel. One of my beers of the festival.

Cask Stillage at The Venue, Miles Platting 22/01/2011 Big fruit aroma. Amber coloured very strong in alcohol and fruity with a little sour apple flavour. A hint of dryness in a very bitter finish.

planky84 (3260) - Lee, Greater London, ENGLAND - JAN 24, 2011
Cask at NWAF, 2011. Deep amber pour with no head. Slightly sour nose, a bit of toffee, medicinal. Sweet toffee and pear flavours. Warm, sweet and sticky finish. Back to the drawing board with this one I think.
