It’s official after a few months of working out the perfect flavor profile Tim down at Strange Brewery has handed over to us our first keg of Hops & Pie PA! Brewed to let the hops shine, Hops & Pie PA starts with Maris Otter to form the malty base that holds up to all the hops. Multiple hop additions showcase Simcoe’s piney, spicy, citrus character and Cascade’s resiny, floral aromas. Dry-hopped to further enhance the floral, spicy aromas, Hops & Pie PA is a drinkable, delicious pint of hop indulgence. OG 1.066 ABV 6.6% IBUs 64 We are offering Hops & Pie PA just as Strange brewed it or passed through Hoptymus Prime, our in-line fresh hopper. Custom built for H&P by Buck over at Thirstay (the best tap guy in the state!!), our in-line fresh hopper is filled with fresh Cascade hops that the IPA passes through on the way out the draft faucet giving an additional punch and fresh flavor!

Nose of grass and tart strawberries with a little nectarine. Dry mouth with a resin back. The back taste doesn’t linger like some more Lupulin-y beers. A good go to American IPA.

arminjewell (9720) - East Lansing, Michigan, USA - APR 17, 2015
Pour on tap at Hops and Pie, clear golden orange pour with white head, aroma brought notes of lemon peel, grass, herbal, nice floral hop notes into a bit of bready notes with a touch of spice. Taste was a mix of grass, wet grain, some orange into a bit of lemon, floral hops with a hint of biscuit, finishing slightly bitter.

Dogbrick (13558) - Columbus, Ohio, USA - JUN 20, 2014
On draught at Hops & Pie. Clear dark amber color with a medium off-white head that recedes steadily. Stringy lacing on the glass. Aroma of citrus, hops and toasted malt. Medium-bodied with flavors of piney hops, citrus and roast malt. The finish is moderately bitter with a citrusy hops aftertaste. Decent overall.

Strykzone (7586) - Wood River, Illinois, USA - JUN 15, 2014
10 ounce pour at Hops and Pie. Darker copper with just a little haze. A beige head. A citrus aroma. First sip is a bitter citrus hit but that fades too quickly. Tropical fruit follows with some pine behind that. This is better if you put it down and come back to it. Then that first hit repeats itself over and over.

Draft - Resin and caramel. Clear copper with a rich beige head. Resin, light bitterness and caramel. Not much interesting going on, but a very easy drinking IPA.

djd07 (15356) - Houston, Texas, USA - APR 13, 2014
On tap at Hops and Pie. Pours a cloudy amber with small white head that diminishes to nothing. The aroma is pine and floral hop. Thin mouthfeel with light fruity hop, citrus and light bitterness. Good.

On tap at Hops & Pie. Pour is clear copper with a small tan head and pod lacing. Citrusy, grapefruity, a touch of caramel, bready, wet dog, straw and grass in the aroma. Taste is somewhat watered-down, grassy, weed, caramelly, resin and grapefruit peel with a medium bitter finish. Medium body with high carbonation. Meh.

drfabulous (8488) - Lexington, Kentucky, USA - OCT 15, 2012

craftbeerdesign (2254) - Fort Collins, Colorado, USA - MAY 15, 2012
Deep orange / red pour with an off white head. Light citrus hop nose with some earthy bitterness and caramel malt. Med body - deep malt backbone with spicy bitterness and light citrus hops. Aggressive bitter finish that sticks around.
