A well balanced dark mild with a rich chocolate aroma. A blend of American hops give this ale a subtle lingering orange zest aftertaste.

tombyars (1749) - Saltcoats, - JUL 19, 2012
Tasted this in the Salt Cot, Saltcoats (JDW) in July 2012. Cask, handpump dispense. Black in colour with ruby highlights and a thin creamy buff head. Slight dusty drinking chocolate powder note in the short aroma. Thin watery mouthfeel and poor lacing. Dark malts give a maltloaf base with chicory, plain chocolate and roast grain notes present. Dry hop flowers noted in the dusty citrusy aftertaste. Finish is dry with tart bramble fruit and weak coffee notes present in the mouth. An ok session mild from Strathaven but still prefer Trumpeter though.

Erdig und torfig mit einem Schuss Malz und Kaffee. Etwas Schokolade, wenig Frucht, dafür blättrig und dumpf auf der Zunge. Dennoch nicht wirklich schlecht.
