Medium-brown color, minimal off-white head. Light to medium-bodied. Somewhat tart. Toast aroma along with malt and a hint of caramel, smoke, licorice, and soy sauce. mikemccarthy (91) - Huntington, West Virginia, USA - JUL 13, 2012

When I poured this amber/light brown beer, I was taken aback by an unexpected whiff of skunkiness. The aroma’s a little bit roasty, a little bit caramel, and only a little bit skunky. Tastes a little bit bitter and faintly sweet. Creamy, but not rich. To tell the truth, I was pleasantly surprised.
Pours a dark copper with a frothy, tan head that stays. Malty aroma. Thin, flat mouthfeel. Bland taste. Meh.

This is definitely a tastie beer. This is a good everyday drinker. Comparable if not better than yuengling lager. The lower alcohol level is due to no added sugar in the brewing process. My new flavor. The corn taste I’ ve seen in other reveiwsis due to the fact that straub uses corn flakes as one of their ingredients. I recommend it. johnnnniee (4312) - Bedford, New Hampshire, USA - NOV 22, 2011
Review from notes, beer sampled 8/12/2011
I had this in a bottle in a bar in the middle of nowhere Pennsylvania while visiting my wife’s mom. I’d never heard of this brewery so now was the time to try it. Pours a deep copper reddish brown with a decent sized white creamy head. Smells of lightly toasted and bready malt with hints of caramel and very faint spicy hops. Taste is smooth lager like and easy to drink. Lightly bready toasty caramel malt with barely enough spicy hops to keep it from being cloying. Medium body and carbonation level with a smooth slick mouthfeel. Decent enough macro style lager, but certainly nothing to go out of your way for. LetsGoState (886) - Pennsylvania, USA - NOV 6, 2011
Aroma is a corny bland malt. Taste might as well be a watery pale lager with some roastiness if I concentrate. Overall pretty bland beer.

Bottle. Poured clear dark amber color with an average frothy off-white head that mostly lasted with good lacing. Moderate sweet toasted malt aroma. Medium body with a smooth texture and soft carbonation. Light to medium sweet flavor with soft sweet finish of short to medium duration. Worth trying agian as a lawnmower beer.

Bottle: pours a dark amber color with a white head that quickly dissapates. It has a sweet aroma, with not much else. likewise, the flavor is a sweet bit of not too much. It isn’t bad, though. A nice easy drinker. Beerman6686 (6607) - Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA - AUG 29, 2011
This poured a dark amber color with a white head. Aroma was mainly of sweeter caramel and toasted malt. Flavor was much the same, bland and uninviting. Leafs93 (2305) - Clarks Summit, Pennsylvania, USA - AUG 14, 2011
Pours a light brown with a little bit lighter head. Aroma is caramel. Taste is sweet and clean. Not much going on, easy to drink. Cakes (436) - New Bloomfield, Pennsylvania, USA - AUG 8, 2011
Tasted this on tap at the Selinsgrove Beer & Wine Festival
Very light palate and taste.
I agree with the statement, “This beer didn’t have too much flavor for being a dark beer”.
