Just stumbled across this on Groundhog Day. Clear deep amber with a medium head that quickly faded to fine lacing. The hop aroma, probably Saaz, lingered nicely. A bit of toffee flavor balanced the hops and finished dry and bitter. Not a bad groundhog nog.
Poured into a perfect pint.
3.75 A: Clear copper color. Two fingers of creamy/frothy beige head. Retention is about average and a half finger of lacing is left.
3.5 S: Dry, dusty graininess with grassy and earthy notes. Caramel meshes well with toastiness.
3.0 T: While I wasn’t sure if there were adjuncts in here based on the nose, the taste is a dead giveaway. Grainy, grassy, earthy, and bready. Again caramel and toastiness with a light nuttiness.
3.5 M: Lighter medium to medium body. Good moderate carbonation. Lightly creamy and smooth enough.
3.25 D: It’s not such a bad beer, but it’s not a good one either.

Bottle. Thanks b-law. Nice looking clear copper color. Aroma is caramel, cookie, toffee bread. Medium light sweetness. Taste is same as aroma. Easy drinking. Good flavor. Well done.

Pours a clear copper color with a light white head. Aroma of dark malt. Taste is balanced leaning toward malty but not overly. German ale yeast lends a bready quality.

Poured from a 12 ounce bottle. The aroma is very malty, caramel rich, oxidized, raisin. The flavor is bready, sweet maltiness, caramel, light coffee. The hops are very soft. Almost Footbalmed. Darkmagus82 (2302) - - AUG 26, 2014

Appearance – Pours a copper color with a small cream colored head. The head has a moderate level of retention fading to a thin persistent film and leaving a nice level of lacing on the sides of the glass.
Smell- The smell is of some caramel sweetness mixed with aromas of toasted grain. Along with these aromas are some smells of a musty nature, giving a slightly stale aroma to the brew.
Taste – The taste begins with a blend of roasted malt and some caramel sweetness. As the flavor advances the sweetness intensifies more toward the middle with a toffee flavor joining the caramel that was present up front. While the taste sweetens in the middle it begins to dwindle again more toward the end as some hop flavors of an earthy nature coming to the tongue. With the earthy hops comes some flavors of a roasted malt and a light corny taste, which leave a somewhat off lightly bittered toast flavor on the tongue.
Mouthfeel – The body of the beer is on the average to above average side in terms of its thickness and creaminess for a brew of its strength with a carbonation level that middle ground. The thicker body is nice for the roasted flavors of the brew as well as the lighter hop, which it accentuates, while the carbonation level is good for keeping an easy drinking brew.
Overall -This is a pretty easy drinking brew. Its aftertaste is not the greatest, but other than that it has a good profile. It’s likely worth a try, but not worth buying a + 6 pack of.

Sampled from a 12 oz brown bottle this beer poured a dark nut brown color with orange highlights and a small foamy tan head that left decent lacing. The aroma was sour, a bit tangy and malty with some nut and cherry. The flavor was malty, sour and nutty with faint toffee and wood. Short malty sour nut finish. Medium body. Bottle from Capone’s. Pours dark brown, looking deep coppery through direct light. The head is khaki and minimal. Nose is earthy malt, brown sugar, nuts, and a whiff of vinyl. Tastes earthy, with notes of nuts, brown sugar, some lactic tartness. Finishes medium in palate heft. Mediocre.
