As "Ground Hog Brew". Sharp beany hops and gaseous carbon dioxide aroma. Light, but no skunkiness. Pale straw clear color, with wispy white head. Light bodied, crisp, with medium-heavy carbonation. Carbonic tingle the whole time you drink it. Mild flavors. Decent sweetness but not much malt character. OK hops but more carbonic acidity than anything. Beany after. For a light beer, it’s actually pretty good. Certainly fresh and it’s clean and crisp at the finish. Wouldn’t want to drink it all night, but it was refreshing.

(draft @ "The Eternal Tap," Straub Brewery - St. Mary’s, PA) They added a second tap to the Eternal Tap this year, so we had to have some of it. Straw yellow pour with lots of white foam. Dry and grainy aroma with a little bitterness underneath it all. Taste is dry and grainy as well, but very smooth. Finish is smooth and watery. One of the more full-bodied and enjoyable light beers I’ve ever had, but I still prefer the original Straub. Go and take the tour! Visit the gift shop! It’s worth it.

UPDATED: JAN 26, 2006 Pours light, pale yellow, with a white head. Aroma is kind of weird with grain, and some malt. Flavor is somewhat sweet, with grain and some hops. I’d still rather drink this than BMC light beers.

Pours pale yellow/gold, with a white head. Aromas are grain and malt. Flavors are grain and hops, with some malt. All in all, a pretty good light beer. I rather drink this than most other light beers.

aroma is somewhat pleasant much like its cunterpart Straub, appearance is a pale straw color, flavor tastes a lot like regular Straub but more watery and worse aftertaste, palate is watery of course, overall 6/20 because of low alcohol content

Piss yellow, fizzy white head that dies down quickly. Watery grainy aroma. Grainy unispired malt flavors, with floral tinges of hop, most noticable in the finish. Mouthfeel is very light.

12 oz bottle pours pale golden with a thin white head. Aroma of light grains and malts. Flavor is much the same. Very slight hop finish. On the palate this is crisp and clean and actually not all that bad for a light beer that is only 96 calories.

it could have been worse for a light beer. It had that light beer taste, but wasn’t as watery or thin like coors light. as far as light beers are concerned this one isn’t that bad.

UPDATED: JUN 26, 2006 I have never encountered anything drinkable from Straub and this beer proved to be no exception. Sampled from a 12 oz brown bottle this beer poured an extremely light pale yellow with a medium sized bleach white head. The aroma is sweet and grassy. The flavor is sour and grassy with a light sour tang and a dry finish. Not good but less offensive than their regular beer.

It’s not terrible but it’s not good either. Appearance is a yellowish looking color, not too appealing. There is some flavor there but it just isn’t strong enough.

Pours pale yellow. Aroma of mild malt, some citrus. Slight malt, hop, citrus taste, but not much. Fairly bland and uninteresting.

Not as good as regular Straub, but not a drain pour either. This beer is affordable and drinkable on hot summer days. My father swears by it, but I never stock it as I prefer pales, IPAs and I2PAs.
