2.2 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 7/20
12 oz can.
A nice grainy pale malt aroma, you will note a hint of hops.
Watery a bit, but refreshing.
A pale golden color - kinda looks like Coors in the glass,
Bottle at the Legion in a dry town in Western PA
Crystal clear light yellow bubbly white head. Lightly sweet crackery grainy maltiness with just a hint of floral to counter. not horrible. joejames (510) - Jacobus, Pennsylvania, USA - DEC 5, 2016
I picked up a twelve back to keep around the house for a quick thirst quencher and company. I thought I reviewed this one, another Homer Simpson moment!! Poured from a can to my shaker glass it’s deep rich golden color was a real shock. It’s two finger fluffy white head that laced alright and retained quite well added to it’s shock value in these old eyes. It has an aroma of corn and grass is subtle and the flavor is MUCH better than the TV beers, all of em except maybe Sam Adams. Light, clean and refreshing! It’s not the greatest but most certainly is worth it’s price. This was a pleasant surprise! rentonj7 (250) - Havertown, Pennsylvania, USA - NOV 12, 2016
So . . I actually like this beer. When I came of age, it was the only beer I could still find in refillable bottles. That’s actually kind of awesome. Why recycle when you can reuse? It’s from PA, and I’m from PA. Aroma is slightly corny. Taste is more corn with a little metal. Mouthfeel and finish are light and short. A traditional lawn mower beer. rondphoto (4448) - Lakeside Park, Kentucky, USA - NOV 17, 2015
bottle @ The Anderson’s / Columbus OH --- Clear light amber color, smooth white one-finger head, a few lace dots. Aroma of malt and corn, which I always find appealing. Taste is sweet malt, corn, and grass that moves without change to a carbonated swallow. I’m sure there are hops, but I can’t detect them. A simple lawn mower beer, light, not at all filling. I think it is true to its mission, which is: "light, thin, drink several of them" simple. Timdogg (5) - Pennsylvania, USA - APR 16, 2015 does not count

Bottle. Light corn and barley malt aroma. Golden yellow with moderate head. Sweet corn syrup and barley malt flavor. Light bitter hay finish. One of the featured beers at the 1983 GABF - must have sucked being a beer drinker back then. Luckily I waited until 1984 to start. Pours clear gold with a small, white head.
Slight grain scent.
Taste is honeyed,barley malt.
That’s about it.....
Nothing awful, just a rather dull, grassy plain lager...............watery. Bulk_Carrier (6065) - Vermont, USA - AUG 17, 2014
Reviewed from notes.
This was poured into a pilsener glass.
The appearance had a semi-light bronzed yellow color with a two finger bubbly and moderately foamy (in the middle) white head. The lacing was somewhat there but slid for the most part.
The smell had a light sweet corn to it but there wasn’t much else.
The taste followed the aroma.
On the palate, this one sat fairly light on the body with a decent sessionable quality to it. The carbonation seemed appropriate for the style and for me. There was a decent smooth and crisp sweet corn finish.
Overall, decent pale lager that I tend to have whenever I visit relatives in PA and not a bad budget beer. ronaldtheriot (1936) - Laplace, Louisiana, USA - JUL 20, 2014
Straub American Lager has a thin-to-medium, white head, a rather hazy, yellow-gold appearance, noticeable white sediment suspended throughout, lots of streaming bubbles, and some splotchy lacing left behind. The aroma is of sweet, biscuity malt and grassy hops. The flavor is of those elements, with a tiny hop bitterness at the end. Mouthfeel is light and watery, and Straub American Lager finishes crisp and refreshing, but a little flat on flavor. RJT callmemickey (4543) - Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA - JUN 10, 2014
Clear golden colored body with a thin white head and sparse lacing. Lightly sweet grainy cereals, some citrus and stone fruits. Medium to light bodied, smooth carbonation, lightly sweet finish. Relatively clean and straightforward.
