3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
500ml bottle. Poured a deep, ruddy brown with a two-finger, fading beige head leaving a soapy lace. Cinnamon, clove, crunchy roasted malts and red fruit aromas. Cinnamon and clove again on the tongue with red berries and sambuca-esque herbal notes. A lingering ashy, coffee bitter finish prevails in each sip. Light to medium body, dark malt and spice finish, medium carbonation. Could do with more thrust in the mid-palate as the spice overpowers the base beer somewhat.
Bottle from Beers of Europe.
Appearance - deep brown with a lovely fawn head. Red chinks. Flat head.
Nose - strawberry jam. Light molasses and a caramel biscuit note. Mulled spices.
Taste - liquorice and molasses. Ginger and cinnamon biscuits.
Palate - close to medium bodied with a dry tangy texture and a long dry crunchy finish.
Overall - interesting beer. Sjohnh (947) - Coventry, West Midlands, ENGLAND - DEC 30, 2015
I don’t mind this. Smells of red berries and malt. Tastes of caramel and red fruit with a hint of spice. Downsides: looks flat and murky, palate is limp. Borresteijn (7172) - Zaandam, NETHERLANDS - APR 5, 2015
50cl Bottle from a bio shop, thanks Manon! Hazy ruby-brown colour, beige head. Aroma of cinnamon, dark fruits, some roasted malts. Flavour is spicy, mostly cinnamon, red fruits, dark fruits, roasted malts, has features of an Abbey Dubbel, powdery bitter finish. Light bodied, a little over-carbonated. OK. Bottle @ THT February. Pours a clear reddish beer with a very small, off white head on top. Aroma of not much actually, some malty stuff and a faint herbal note. Very watery, sugary and light sweet flavor. Not interesting and rather bad. Benzai (15619) - Oirschot, THE NETHERLANDS, NETHERLANDS - FEB 27, 2015
Bottle @ The Hague Tasting. Hazy red color, small off-white to beige head. Smell and taste malts, herbs or spices, a bit sweet-bitter. Don’t like it. Meh.

Aroma of cloves, cinamon, cherries and some anise. Also some dark malts. Brown and a bit red cloudy colour and a small white head. Cinnamon and malty flavour, also a bit of bitterness. Cinnamon, malty aftertaste. Also a bit watery. Not so special but ok. jamestulloch (4116) - Edinburgh, SCOTLAND - DEC 11, 2014
Bottle from Drinkmonger. Murky amber/brown body with a thin off-white head. Nice lacing. Aroma of metal, nuts and tea. Flavour of lightly roasted malt, stewed pear, plum and a hint of warming spice. Thin body with a watery, slightly oily texture. Average fizz. Simple and tasty. Dommod2011 (706) - Birmingham, West Midlands, ENGLAND - DEC 7, 2014
Every year on this day I sing Birthday by the Beatles to Tom Waits. I imagine one day we’ll share a birthday tipple. He won’t be drinking alcohol and I won’t be drinking this. I’ll probably avoid booze out of courtesy.
This smells like Christmas and tastes like it too. Picked it up from Broadway. Another annual tradition. Peace.
