29/VII/17 - 33cl bottle from Willems (Grobbendonk) @ holidays - BB: 23/V/17 (despite having bought this in June) (2017-1148)

Little cloudy blond beer, big solid creamy white head, very stable, adhesive, leaving some lacing in the glass. Aroma: pretty fruity, some pineapple and citrus notes, bit grassy, herbal, otherwise a pretty clean smelling brew. MF: ok carbon, medium body. Taste: pretty bitter start, bit yeasty, citrus, some banana, grassy. Aftertaste: very bitter, bit sweet, some banana, metallic touch (aaah, Strubbe, never fails to deliver some metallic flavour to the beers), bit grassy, grains, dry finish. Probably quite a bit better when drunk fresh... Couldn’t help it alas.

This local town beer for Torhout is an heirloom, once swallowed by Alken-Maes but now commissioned from Strubbe by a drinks market in Ichtegem. Got all that? Pours a hazy pale peach-color with lively bubbles, geometrically stacking white foam, sticky lace on glass. Smells of lemon peel, wet grain, whiff of tart citrus candy. Really nicely balanced taste, fairly bitter, lightly sweet and finishing surprisingly dry, with just a bit of floral-juicy hop-flavor center. Lively mouthfeel, well attenuated. Its strength is well hidden and its drinkability is borderline dangerous; would be refreshing if not for inevitable alcoholic after effects. Excellent strong blond ale that makes smart use of hops without taking things too far in any one direction.

Bottle shared. Clear golden with a white head. Aroma of malt, cheesey, weak green hops, a little fruit and yeast. Flavour is moderate sweet and bitter. Medium bodied with soft carbonation.

CONCLUSION : très belle ipa. Oh amarillo, quand tu me tiens !! quels prodiges tu peux faire !!

Bottle @ home. Clear yellow color, medium to full sized a bi rough white head that lasts for a decent while. Smell and taste malts, a slight touch of hops, some malt bitter, some hop bitter. In the end though, it’s just one of so many Belgian Blond beers. Not bad, not good. Drinkable but I won’t order it again.

Pours rather blonde, ok white head. Rather hoppy scent, fruity but not so bitter. Taste is fruity as well. Bit bitter, some malty base. Kinda sweet, thnx to the aromahops. SHould be more sharp and more bitter, but than again, you might end up with an IPA instead. This is interesting though. Hoparomatic blonde ale. nice

ligt clear golden with a nice snow white airy white head. a lot of malts, bit grain in the nose, bit of white sugar, whisky wort as some fruity touch. Taste: malt, yeast. MF is dry, is a bit bitter in the finish, but gets a sweetish streak in the end. very soft, smooth body. alcohol is well hidden, drinks very easy (too easy?) beats the expectations. (but what is wrong with the name, come’on ...). Maybe, worth to compare with an Hapkin ???
