From tap, a wild version of Lion Claws. Still fermenting in the tank when served (bretty cells working hard for the good!)
Pours light orange with massive white foam.
Aromas are unbelievable and so powerfull: fruity, hoppy, grassy, woody ... and like a Condrieu wine i.e. peach and apricot notes. Dried fruits and almond ... huge massive brew.

Draught at the Borefts 2012. Hair of the Dog and Struise collab? Fuck yeah. Went after this guy early in the event due to its stellar parents. Pour was a slightly clearish orange with massive white head/lace. Aromas of dried fruit, wood, fresh hops, whiskey, vanilla, earth, and spice. Taste is toast, citrus fuel, grass, dark fruit, and spicy wood. Medium bodied, with a creamy smooth close and aftertaste. What a beer. Alengrin (5382) - BELGIUM - MAR 11, 2015
At ACBF. Barrel aged DIPA, collaboration between Struise Brouwers and Hair of the Dog, this cannot go wrong... Sticky, stable, yellowish white head, lightly hazy golden blonde colour. Complex aroma, starfruit, lemon zest, pineapple, sour berries; crisp fruity onset, sweetish, caramelly malts, complex, sourish accent, long developing finish of citrussy and peppery hops, bittering and drying, with oaky tannins and indeed a hint of bourbon-like, warming alcohol which stays relatively subtle for a beer of 11.5% ABV. Pours with immense foaming head.
Aroma is very sour and tart which is strange. Some spicy notes reveal as well.
Taste is wonderful, very complex and distinct.

Thx to Sebletitje + Carlo & Urbain /// draft sample @ ’t Schooltje // colab. with HotD, barley wine aged on Kentucky bourbon barrels (like pretty much all the new stuff we had there, they got a bunch of these barrels, now they got to use them) // Struise IPA’s were always very close to hoppy barley wines & this is close to an American style DIPA // doesn’t seem like a difference between an IPA & a barley wine exists for them // interesting // this is quite young and as mentioned by Urbain in true HotD fashion this is a hoppy barley wine that should be aged in order to get the hops out of it like Doggie Claws, which indeed should be aged to get the hops out of I feel // clear golden with a creamy white head // smells of creamy pine resin hops, tangerines, grapefruits, peel with some caramel // taste-wise, this is full of caramel malts but it is very bitter – everything about this makes me think of a DIPA, they clearly made this to be a barley wine – lots of citrus peel, grapefruit, marmalade, grass in the finish, caramel coating of the whole especially in the beginging before the grass jumps out is also quite bitter as well // body is quite caramel creamy // a definitive touch of HotD is felt in this beer

Big white head, changes slowly into a small white lacing on top of an almost clear orange colored beer.
Smell lovely mix of Lambic with a barrel aged IPA: cellar, stone, hops, wild yeast, flowers, wood.
Taste hops, flowers, fruits, peach, wild yeast, flowers, wood, cream, light bitter another nice effort, lovely.
Aftertaste is a nice mix of flowers, yeast and stone and wood.
Low to medium carbo, soft mouthfeel, full body and a creamy texture.

Draft @ ’t Schooltje, thanks Carlo. Barleywine aka Doggu Claws meets Struise? At this point, I am getting more of a DIPA with a definite HOTD signature, may need some more aging for the hops to dissipate. Regardless of style, the beer rocks.
Orangée, col beige.
Arôme fruité et houblonné herbacé sur des notes d’agrumes et de vin blanc, peut être la barrique, le tout garde un bouquet très américain dans les houblons utilisés.

Draft sample at Alvinne Craft Beer Festival 2015 Vichte Belgium. Pour it amber color with small white head.On the nose grapes.Taste and aroma of peach, grapes which left on the after taste.Very good balanced note of sweet bourbon barrel.Perfect
