Struise-Mikkeller is as we said in the past "Best of two worlds". We delivered an IPA with 130 IBU (Batch I), 150 IBU (Batch II), 163 IBU (Batch III), 216 IBU (Batch IV), but a bitterness hidden the Struise way, counter balanced by maltyness, alcohol and rest sugars.

1/24/2009 1:37:39 PM Bottle from Cracked Kettle. Opal body with frothy head. Very hoppy nose. Bitter taste with lots of hops. A wonderful IPA. Fruity and ginger, sure. But hops and bitter aplenty. A superb beer. Love it.

On tap. Pours orange with white off head. A bit piney, herbal, orange peel, tangerine, peach, floral and a bit caramel. Nice bitterness. Stays coating the mouth but it gets never harsh. I am not sure if the whipped cream head with a low carbonation body, much like Guinness, is a good idea. I kind of missed a more intense carbonation once and a while to push around all that hoppy goodness. A great brew anyway

130 IBU. Hazy reddish amber. Thin cream coloured head. Aroma is caramel, honey, rye bread, apple, hay and some alcohol. Taste is rye bread, orange, honey, grass, apple. Holds up well even though the hops are mellowed out by age.

liinis (1773) - Helsinki, FINLAND - JUN 1, 2015
Vintage 2011 IBU216. Strong hoppy character aroma and flavour. hazy orange colour. lots of lace leaving head. Not too bitter as a imperial IPA many times is. balanced by sweetness. Happy to have found it.

At the Alvinne Craft Beer Festival in Vichte-Belgium with markoijelana. Ciao. Pours orange hazy, off-white head. Nose: amber caramel malts, mild citrus notes. Mouth: a bit too aggressively bitter, malty in a way but not that terrific.

airrick2003 (872) - Louisiana, USA - MAY 15, 2015
Appearance: pours with a large dense dark beige head, the beer is a darker amber, very hazy, Aroma: faint malt caramel, potpourri spice, lavender, very faint Taste: strong bitterness, very strong malt backbone, strong alcohol finish, Palate: lively carbonation, heavy mouthfeel, very strong bitterness on the aftertaste Overall: very good but such a big beer you can't drink much of this fast, very bitter, very malty at the same time ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

PotjeBier (3450) - Amsterdam, NETHERLANDS - MAY 2, 2015
