COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Collaboration brew with Stillwater Artisanal Ales (USA). Crowned last week with a golden Award for Best newcomer in the world 2011.

This Belgian Strong Ale was married to a still young but powerful style, the Black IPA. Youll discover a smooth chocolate like strong ale together with the high & bitter hop schedule of an IPA, and you get a great result...

This is a strange and interesting beer. It is intensely chocolate-y and roasty, yet with sharp bright hops. Its very complex, but it is so overpoweringly roasty and biting that nuances are quickly lost. It has a strong mint flavor Ive never encountered before (even though the ingredients dont list any spices). The finish is very bitter. If I could think of one word to describe this beer, it would be "intense."

Dark brown to black colored, medium tan creamy, good lasting head. Aroma is molasses, brown sugar and toffee, dark fruits, walnut and bit roasted malt. Taste is medium+ sweet malt, brown sugar and toffee, licorice and dark fruits, carob and molasses, some low herbal bitterness. Medium to full bodied, sticky, soft carbonation. Alcohol well masked, some warmth present. Very good, although the bottle was from 2011 so any BIPA notes have long gone. (bottle, Gainsbar, Kortrijk, B)

Bottle 2011 vintage shared at home. Almost black with creamy dark beige head. Spices up front with dried leaves, mint, chocolate, bay leaves, coffee, brown sugar, burnt toast, cola. Quite sweet with herbal bitter finish. Close to full bodied with fizzy carbonation. Quite herbal and minty, but still balanced.

visionthing (4881) - Tallinn, ESTONIA - APR 30, 2015
33cl bottle at Kulminator, Antwerp. Pours very dark, close to black, with a beige head. Roasty aroma with licorice, dark chocolate, some wooden and liqueur like notes, faded hops with fruity notes and hints of citrus. Sweet, roasty and flavourful. Smooth and very well balanced. Well integrated alcohol. Delicious!

Bottle from 2011, doesnt look great anymore with only a small head that disappeared fast but the aroma is amazing, brown sugar, lots of spice, some raisins and prunes and a little tobacco; reminiscent of a Christmas ale. Flavour is less sweet with more of a smoky tobacco flavour but without losing anything from the aroma, very rich and super smooth. It really reminds me a lot of Christmas pudding and I love christmas pudding.

Flaska frn Etre Gourmet, 2011 vintage. St och kryddig doft och smak. Pors, muskot, ingefra och torkad lite syrlig frukt. Stor st kropp, len munknsla, ingen alkohol som sticker ut alls, lite st och ltt syrligt torkade br och frukter typ krsbr, fikon, tranbr. Lite Pannepot-karaktr helt enkelt och riktigt gott. Humlen r helt frsvunnen.
