COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Collaboration brew with Stillwater Artisanal Ales (USA). Crowned last week with a golden Award for Best newcomer in the world 2011.

This Belgian Strong Ale was married to a still young but powerful style, the Black IPA. You’ll discover a smooth chocolate like strong ale together with the high & bitter hop schedule of an IPA, and you get a great result...

Bottle: Poured a deep black color stout with a super huge thick foamy head with great retention and very good lacing. Aroma consists of semi-sweet Belgian malt with great notes of fruity ester. Taste is also a nice mix between some sweet malt with nice fruity ester and light residual candi sugar notes. Body is quite full with nice creamy texture and good carbonation with no apparent alcohol. Another very nice beer from two of my favourite brewers.

Bottle at Mikkeller bar. Pours brown with a tan head. Great receblance with the Pannepots with an addition of soy and licorice. Smoot and sweet stoutish.

Bouteille 33cl.

08-AUG-2011, bottle @home, from "Ølbutikken". I know my Struise, so I open this over the sink, but hey...not a gusher:) Pours very, very dark brown with beige head. Nose is bready malty with a minty note together with some licorice. Taste is much the same with moscovado, and a Coca-Cola sensation. Mint-Coke...perhaps something for Coca-Cola to consider? Very high carbonation, very creamy mouthfeel, and long sweet and hoppy bitter ending. Strange beast, but very fine.

Pours dark cola, near black; thick frothy tan head. Strong sweet rummy aroma; fruitcake, oak. Same oaky boozy rummy quality in the taste; some dried fruit flavor; molasses? very bitter, as from charred oak. Somewhat overcarbonated.

Mmmm, really good stuff, but I don’t pick up much a the hop. After warming a bit out of the fridge, poured with a giant, fluffy, foamy, frothy, sudsy, light, pale tan head with some clingy lace. Color is super dark, perhaps clear or slightly hazy mahoganey with some sediment in the bottom of the glass. Aroma is first yeast, then malt, licorice, rye, wet grain. Flavor is like nose with an excellent sweet, tang, bitter balance. Body and carbonation are great. Finish is like flavor and has some legs with just a bit of alcohol warmth in there. Don’t know about the ipa designation tho.

Bottle, 10%. Good fruity and spicy aroma, black pepper, sweet chocolate. Very dark brown colour, seems clear. Good stable light brown head. The flavour is a lot like the aroma, not so fruity, but nicely spicy. Rather sweet, but nicely balanced by a good, warming alcohol note. The carbonation is a little high, but that is easy to get rid of. Leaves a good, creamy mouthfeel.

Deep black pour with a tight tan-brown head. The nose has a lot of blak and red licorice and chewy herbal components. A little bit of very fruity aroma. A lot of plum and sweet red licorice in addition to some heavily roasted malt. A mixture of citrus and some nice coriander as well. Moderate alcohol noticeable. Clove and a bit of ginger. It's very rich yet balanced. Solid, solid brew. Unique. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Black body, small light brown body. Thick texture, full body. Aroma of uniper, ginger, licorice, alcohol, chocolate, coffee and smoky whisky. The taste is heavy sweet and light bitter.
