This Belgian Royal Stout was brewed as a tribute to one of America’s best pubs. Jennifer and Chris Lively who run the place may be proud of Ebenezer’s Pub. Not only do they have 35 beers on draught, most of these are hard to find Supreme Belgian Ales. Above that, they have one of the most extensive bottle-conditioned beer lists through different bottling dates we have ever seen. Not only can you drink almost any Belgian beer, the worlds best brewery’s are represented. A lot of the guests talk about the American Kulminator, yet with that difference that the Belgian inspired food, is simply great. Black Albert was brewed and crafted with a 100% Belgian ingredients. Pours a blacker than black beer with an inch of dark tan head that lingers as it cascades into itself. Nice aroma of bitter-sweet chocolate, fresh torrified coffee beans, barley, candy sugar, complex fruits, and floral hops. At the front, there is spiced baker’s chocolate, fresh mocha, caramel like barley touches, and underlying hints of dried fruits which marries the back of your palate and features a Top, and well integrated but not overbearing hop flavour. The after-taste is well balanced and shows a panorama of extreme sensations like chocolate and coffee bitters, a plum cake richness that covers the palate, and a crisp impression of hop bitters that brings elegance and freshness into this massive brew. UPDATED: DEC 17, 2016 I’ve had the pleasure of tasting this brew during several different occasions from the tap and from the bottle and I must say this is by far one of the best Imperial Stouts brewed; bar none! First, I don’t even know if this should be in the same class with other Imperial Stouts; it has its own distinctive style. The appearance of this brew has to be one of the darkest stouts I have ever seen. The head was so thick and velvety brown head that it looked like a shot of espresso…superb! It had a magnificent scent of sweet chocolate, dark roasted coffee beans and molasses along with roasted malt. The taste is just out of this world. Started off with a blitz of dark chocolate, espresso, and roasted malts; followed by light vanilla hoppy presence and fruit flavors with a touch of bitterness. The mouthfeel wasn’t too thick along with soft carbonation keeping the brew from tasting too syrupy. The complexity of this brew is such that 13% ABV is totally absent until the glass is almost empty and then you begin to say Wow, this is one hell of a beer! For me this was like drinking a fine Port that I could have sipped all night. I can’t say enough about the brews that are being produced at the Struise camp, but I do know that the rating of number one brewer in the world is without doubt; justified! This brew has taken Stouts to a whole new level!!!

Piwo wybitnie degustacyjne, do powolnego sączenia. Dobre z plusem i niestety nic poza tym.

Colore nero, schiuma marrone abbondante e poco persistente. Aromi di caffè tostato, cioccolato amaro, liquirizia, qualche punta di vaniglia. All'assaggio caffè , cioccolato, uvetta, liquirizia, caramello, zucchero, qualche nota legnosa.

UPDATED: JAN 6, 2018 Barwa nieklarownie czarna. Piana srednio i grubo pecherzykowa. Opadajaca uwalniajaca gleboki aromat. Czuc w nim potężną pralin, likieru i kawy. Zapowiada sie intensywna paloność. W smaku cos niesamowitego. Kawa, kawa i jeszcze raz kawa ale taka intensywna, pokazuja sie praliny a na finiszu ta typowa kwasowosc kawy i wrazenie rozgryzionego jej ziarenka na jezyku. Cialo na prawde przyzwoicie duze. Wysycenie srednie. Genialny ris, klasyka i zlozonosc zarazem.

(bottle) Aroma: oak, roasted malt , coffee. Appearance: black color, small head. Taste: quite dry, flavour of booz, bitter chocolate, cacao, coffee and roasted malt. Palate: medium to full body, boozy, low carbonation, Overall: Wish it wasn't so boozy.

biilz (277) - SPAIN - JAN 3, 2018
