This Belgian Royal Stout was brewed as a tribute to one of America’s best pubs. Jennifer and Chris Lively who run the place may be proud of Ebenezers Pub. Not only do they have 35 beers on draught, most of these are hard to find Supreme Belgian Ales. Above that, they have one of the most extensive bottle-conditioned beer lists through different bottling dates we have ever seen. Not only can you drink almost any Belgian beer, the worlds best brewerys are represented. A lot of the guests talk about the American Kulminator, yet with that difference that the Belgian inspired food, is simply great. Black Albert was brewed and crafted with a 100% Belgian ingredients. Pours a blacker than black beer with an inch of dark tan head that lingers as it cascades into itself. Nice aroma of bitter-sweet chocolate, fresh torrified coffee beans, barley, candy sugar, complex fruits, and floral hops. At the front, there is spiced baker’s chocolate, fresh mocha, caramel like barley touches, and underlying hints of dried fruits which marries the back of your palate and features a Top, and well integrated but not overbearing hop flavour. The after-taste is well balanced and shows a panorama of extreme sensations like chocolate and coffee bitters, a plum cake richness that covers the palate, and a crisp impression of hop bitters that brings elegance and freshness into this massive brew. UPDATED: NOV 29, 2012 $19 bottle from belgium shop online. Saved for around 6 months. Pours a dark molasses with medium carbonation and a foamy head that fades slowly. Huge and very complex aromas that explode the nose with roasted malts paired with candied malts, big tobacco (like someone left a cig bud at the bottom of the bottle), dark cherry, chocolate, wood chips, toffee and some others that I cant find because of the high complexities! Extensively powerful and complex are the flavors next to the aromas! Tobacco, chocolate, and plum upfront with some touches of dark cherry, fig, slight coffee, wood, and some candy like yeast. Leaves a strong smoky aftertaste. Theres a slight hint of sour mixed with the stronger bitterness and medium sweetness. You can just smell the authentic 100 percent belgian products and craft that went into this beer. The best imperial stout Ive smelled. Alcohol only comes in the nose a little! Must, must, must be drank very slow and siping in long intervals to truly appreciate the wonderful complexities this has to offer otherwise the alcohol and smoke will cloy the other flavors. Fantastic!

Totally black body with a small tan head that had a crimson edge. Lacing was sparse. Vinous aroma of ripe fruit, dark chocolate, anise and molasses. Complex flavors of dark fruit, strong coffee and semi-sweet chocolate mingle with licorice, smoke and toffee. Hops stay hidden in the background; carbonation stays low; alcohol stays approachable. Like a fortified wine, best sipped instead of gulped. Mucho thankos to Sloth.

Served at room temp. Massively rich and full bodied but not crazy over the top. If this is 5yrs old this is a mere babe. Quite sweet but also very powerful. Will goes 10yrs+ with ease. Lacks a few smarts but time might heal.

Troszkę mi się chyba lewa warka trafiła, albo zbyt długo u mnie leżało. No cż dużo czekolady, kakao, na pewno ciemne owoce w tle. NIestety rwnież metaliczne doznania, ktre psuja trochę klimat piwa. Smak płsłodki to słodkiego - długi, raczej stabilny. Ciało płpełne, wysycenie niskie, tekstura taka oleista. Naprawdę niezłe czekoladowe piwo, tylko ta metaliczność.... i tak dałem mu fory.

2015 bottle. Such an enormous sweet stout, full of chocolate and molasses and dark, overripe fruits, an absolute monster of a brew. Nose almost comes across like a boozy Mudslide, thick with chocolate and coffee and a noticeable liquor back. Appearance is black as oil and almost as viscous, with a heavy brown head leaving no lace. Taste starts big and only grows bigger, massive Hershey syrup meeting Kahlua and anise, dried fig and black cherry meshing with a touch of black pepper and mild hop bitterness on the finish. Mocha fade gives up no heat despite the 13% ABV. A touch too sweet for me to be in love, but damned if it isnt a drinkable beast, the smooth texture and lack of any burn making it scary how quickly my pint is disappearing. Lets tick this baby up to 4, just for posteritys sake.

One of the most amazing beers Ive had in a long time. Has that great, dank, dark sour taste that makes the most amazing beers, and it is a Belgian take on a stout. I was in Boston once and they serve fresh Belgians with this awesome sour taste there, it is the perfect beer, for myself. I honestly wish most beer was like this Black Albert beer. I like the craft brew stout, they can be quite good, but this one takes takes me back to the roots of why I became a beer fan in the first place a couple years ago. If I could get a six pack of this in the store and wouldnt hesitate to regularly pick it up. I paid thirteen dollars for this and it was worth every drop. Belgians make great beer. I wish I could visit the pub mentioned in the description, wow.

Wow. genialne połączenie risa z quadruplem, Bardzo intensywne rodzynki w aromacie. W smaku rwnież rodzynki i kandyzowane owoce. Alkohol genialnie ukryty. Smak długo pozostaje w ustach. Bardzo dużo doznań oferuje to piwo i niewątpliwie zasługuje mu na poświęcenie dużej uwagi. Piwne doświadczenie ktre zapamiętam na długo. Lubię takie rzeczy.

Draft. Pitch black. Very fruity & spicy (lots of fruit, berries, dark fruits, spices). Very malty (lots of dark bitter-sweet chocolate, espresso coffee, roast/burnt malts, toffee, candy sugar). Floral hops. Vinous port-like quality. Very rich. Silky. Very smooth. Sweet roast malty. Very complex. Awesome! Stunning beer! (2008)
