COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The Black Damnation series is a dark twist of Urbans mind. His idea is to realize a dozen beers with the use of Black Albert, and over a period of two years, that are as black as hell, filthy rich in the nose and with a massive taste.

Black Damnation II is yet another blend with the use of Hel & Verdoemenis from Brouwerij De Molen. This time a level more complex than BD I. 50% of Black Albert was used that matured for a while on whole coffee beans out of a craft Columbian coffee plantation. 25% of H&V was used that aged for 6 months on JD barrels at Struise. Another 25% of Cuve Delphine was used.

Beware: labels are the same, taste however isnt. Some bottles are recognizable because of he handwritten 2 on them.

Bottle. A big, creamy, beige head rests patiently on top of a pitch black body. Lots of coffee on the nose, but also a good dash of something reminiscent of chili, guess its the coffee playing my mind some tricks. The flavor is filled with mocha, mocha and more mocha, and also the same chili-like thing found in the aroma. Dry, dusty and full-bodied on the palate, warming too. Long finish. A mocha bomb indeed, dangerously wonderful, still a bit intense and unusual to be a true classic. 110621

2 oz sample smuggled out from a local brunch event by my daughter in her first week as a legal drinker. A proud moment for a father. Dark brown with no head but as expected after a 30 minute ride in an open glass. Nose is fudge, espresso bean and dried dark fruits. Smooth and milky medium body with a tang. Taste is earthy pine, coffee bean, cocoa nibs and caraway. Damn good considering the circumstances.

Bottle. Chocolate malt, grass and soil aroma. Sweet dark chocolate initially followed by a moderately bitter vegetal/earthy flavor. Nice body. On the funky side - nicely drinkable.

UPDATED: JUN 5, 2011 330ml bottle @ Pannuhuone, Kuopio

Pours pitch black with a massive beige, espresso type head. Aroma has hints of chocolate, roasted malts and coffee. Taste is heavy with roasted malts, dark coffee and espresso. Slightly sweet and bitter, sticky finish. Well balanced, great and roasty imperial stout.

Looks great, and very interesting aroma with a hint of Spanish pepper. Hints of coffee and chocolate.. very little alcohol taste for this strong beer. Nice.

Bottle at Den Zytholoog, Adegem. All black with an enormous, light brown and creamy head. Acidic and roasted coffee aroma- the coffee is intense! Coffee flavours that would make any coffee shop jealous; rich, acidic and roasted. Even hints of chocolate. Full-bodied. State of the art.

33cl bottle. Dark brown with a generous brown head, huge bubbles, fades to a nice layer. Roasted but earthy coffee, grainy, booze, vanilla bourbon and wood. Taste it quite boozy, get raisins and plumbs so starts sweet but becomes bitter from the coffee. Almost overly carbonated, Some anise and booze on the aftertaste - have to say a little disappointed in the beer - shows potential but one dimensional and needs some time to lose the heat.

Bottle. Peppery, spicy aroma. Instant cacao bitterness in the taste. Lots of fresh spiciness and coffee flavour. A low key sweetness that reminded me of a well made cappuccino. Very well hidden alcohol and quite a dry/bitter aftertaste. Very interesting and pleasant beer, a true masterblend.
