Tasted on 1/26/12 from a 330mL bottle purchased from the Struise Webshop. Pours absolutely pitch black, with a very thick brown head that slowly recedes to average lace. The nose is super dark and roasted coffee and dark chocolate with some molasses, and a very dry and peaty Islay Scotch aroma. The flavor is dark chocolate and molasses up front, moving to the more roasted notes of coffee, and the oaky and smokey peated Islay Scotch. The body is massive with just lighter than average carbonation and a very long bitter roasted coffee and smokey Isaly Scotch finish.
On tap at VCBF17, Belgium.
Nose is slightly peated whiskey, roasted malt.
Body is black, head is very small, brownish, creamy, mostly diminishing, good lacing. Aroma is peated, whiskey, old wood, dust.
Light sweet, heavy bitter.
Finish is long lasting roasty medium to heavy bitter, medium alcohol warmth.
Full body, oily texture, nearly flat carbonation.
Quite heavy, strong flavor, very tasty, great one. rami_pl (3303) - Warszawa, POLAND - APR 19, 2017

Great beer. Roasted malt was heavy with hops at the finish. Sweetness from oak with chocolate and whisky. Smooth and heavy, dark as night. CraftBeerNick (2474) - London Town, Greater London, ENGLAND - MAR 4, 2017
750ml Bottle at home, split with the Beast, 3rd March 17. Pours black, thick, little head, sticks to the glass. Aroma is heady, liquorice, coffee, peat, liquor, wood. Taste is liquorice, sweet, peat, whiskey, barrel, wood, complex, drinks so smoothly, would not know this is 13%. Delicious impy, maybe one of the best in the series for me. Heerlijk donkerzwart bier met bijna geen schuimkraag. Koffie, tabak, leer, beetje rook, pure chocolade. Dik vol van smaak met een lichte peated afdronk. Een sipper. Genieten met hoofdletter G. Bierridder_S (879) - BELGIUM - SEP 20, 2016

Thick black colour with nice brown head leaving a nice thick lacing, even a day after opening the bottle. Nose is dark malts, light peat. Taste is first dark malts, heavy roast, some sweetness, vanilla, chocolate, some peat. Very complex but drinking nicely. Wow! mariuspoenari (2637) - The Hague, NETHERLANDS - SEP 10, 2016
