The Black Damnation series is a dark twist of Urban’s mind. His idea is to realize a dozen beers with the use of Black Albert, and over a period of two years, that are as black as hell, filthy rich in the nose and with a massive taste.

Black Damnation IV was made with Black Albert that aged for 6 months on very old rum barrels.

Bottle from my trip to Belgium. The beer pours to a pitch black body with a tall lively dark brown head. The aroma is strangely very Belgian. Lots of yeasty aromas and candi sugar with some chocolate covered bananas and coffee beans and sugar cane. Very unique. The flavor is coffee and chocolate. A lot of unique flavors too. Perhaps raisins, smoke, vanilla, wood, licorice, and a thick molasses. The rum component imparts quite a unique character. Medium full body that finishes pretty clean for as heavy of a beer this is. A good beer, but to me, it doesn’t scream spectacular.

Soooo intense, cocoa, choco, coffee, notes of grass, black with a thin brown head, full body, thick, almost flat, rick dark fruits notes and again cocoa and coffee...almost perfect.

ciocanelu (2942) - Timisoara, ROMANIA - NOV 1, 2016
Original version, 33 cl bottle. Pitch black color with brown head. Aroma has slightly tart dried fruits like figs and raisins and some cognac type notes. Taste is also slightly acidic, quite dry but fruity and complex. Blueberries, chocolate and some wood. Really smooth mouthfeel, soft carbonation. This beer really aged gracefully, complex, no alcohol burn, really smooth on the palate.

Bottle, silk screened, shared @ Brouwcafé de Molen. Gusher!! Pours a very deep dark brown, reddish beer with a big tanned head on top. Aroma is slightly tart, molasses and loads of coffee with wood. Also some chocolate notes detected. Flavor is sweet and tarty at the same time, must be the infected batch I guess. Not really disturbing, but defintely noticeable in the palate. The coffee manages to overpower some of it though. Aftertaste is again a bit tart by the infection. Just good.
