COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Blue Monk Special Reserve 2013 is a quadruple which has been aged for 3 years in red wine barrels from Château Haut Breton Larigaudière in Margaux ! It is dark brown in color with a beige frothy head. According to Struise, it has an aroma and bouquet of a complex red wine, with a soft taste of spice, berries and black cherries. The flavour is enriched with touches of caramel, fine chocolate, toasted nuts and soft hints of smoke. The fruity elements of red and dark fruits comes from the aging in barrels fine from Château Haut Breton Larigaudière in Margaux. These flavors are adding a slight vanilla note and some refined wood tannins. The finish is soft and smoky with a soft fruity accent and a mild hoppy expression in the most interesting and long aftertaste.

The aroma is raisin, dates, some caramel, some coffee. Pours a caramel brown with orange and amber hues, light tan head slightly lasting and excellent lacing. The taste is sweet. The body is full, the texture creamy, the carbonation lively and the finish long. Very good!!

Piwo mętne o kolorze jasnobrunatnym, z niewielką pianą po przelaniu. Aromat miodu gryczanego, naprawdę silny aromat drewna, w tle lekka śliwka i wiśnia. Na granicy sugestii, mocno przykryty drewnianymi zapachami, majaczy bardzo delikatny dym.

W smaku mocny, ale bardzo dostojny karmel, wiśnia miód gryczany. Wszystko to otoczone drewnem i figowym suszem.

Geur: veel rood fruit, turf, gerookte hesp, kruiden, hout, selderijzout, vanille. Smaak: alcoholisch, zoet, gedroogd fruit, dadels. Medium koolzuurprikkel. Afdronk: licht bitter, wat koffie. Lekker.

Decent, but overrated IMO. Has some of the same sourness and vinegary notes as a Biere Rouge, but somewhat maltier and sweeter.

Very stouty beer. Thick, smoky and filling. Smell: smoked plumes. Taste: roasted dark malt. Aftertaste: bitter chocolate. Very smooth and balanced. Good one.

Very dark black-brown, with red-black highlights if your light is bright enough. Oxidized sherry, tart cherry, whiff of chocolate and treacle. Sweet taste, treacle with a touch of roast, mild bitterness and a trickle of alcoholic warmth. Medium-full body, velvety mouthfeel. Dark, rich and fruity. Entertaining beer, fit for a snifter and a fireside chair.

It’s pretty good and I really like the Smokey fruity thing. Nothing special to look at. But it also has a great body and finish.

33cl bottle at home. Appearance: dark reddish brown with medium beige head. Aroma: smoke, wood, roasted malts, dark fruits, vanilla, red wine and some soapiness. Taste: high sweetness and medium bitterness. Notes of wood, roasted malts, smoke, wry red wine, red fruits and slight coffee. Sticky on the tongue. Finish is long lasting with dark fruits, coffee and smoke. Palate: medium to full bodied, oily texture and lively carbonation.
