Previously 13% abv, 11% abv from 2014->. Black Albert was used in a new barrel aging project. More than a year ago, Carlo was able to get his hands on a stock of Four Roses Bourbon barrels, and we happily filled them up with Batch „0". This unique creation was originally to be named 4 Black Roses in honour of its heritage, but our friends in Kentucky strongly advised us not to do so! What to do? As the disowned offspring of Black Albert, the name Cuvée Delphine imposed itself. Savouring the Belgian irony, we are most honoured to have artwork by Delphine Boël shining on this label. You will not find this ale all over the globe. There is no export program, but we will try to provide stock through our web shop and some specialty beer pubs.

2014 tap at the sovereign into a wineglass showing pitch black with a finger and a half of latte colored foam. The nose shows a combination of Belgian yeast, roast malts, and light bourbon. The palate is medium bodied and moderately carbonated. Flavors of roasted malts and coffee with a light Belgian yeast sweetness. Light latte sweetness on the finish with no alcoholic heat.

Coffee and raisins in aromas and taste totally follow that direction. Nicely sweet and with roastines and vanilla in the finish

UPDATED: FEB 10, 2017 Keg @ BrewDog Södermalm, abv 13%. Black with a small and short lasting beige head, weak lacing. Toasted malty aroma, mild oaky, vanilla, coffe, chocolate and hints of bourbon. Full bodied, silky mouthfeel, soft carbonation. Rich bourbon taste, oaky, vanilla, coffe and roasted malt. Long warming finish.

Bottle shared with ebone1988 for the Koleminer20 turns 3k and Ebone1988 turns 1.6k Bonanza. 330 mL bottle. Says Vintage 2012, bottled on 09/2014. The pour is a lighter black with a darlnkhaki head that falls down with some good lacing that you wouldn’t expect with a stout. The aroma is nice and malty with a good chocolate and a light metallic finish. There is a light smoke on the back end that I’m not crazy about. The flavor is chocolatey with a smoked malt up front and a lightly metallic maltiness going on. There is a sweet bourbon barrel with a light charred oak and a touch of vanilla. The smoke deters for me. The mouth feel is great. It’s thick and chewy with a soft carbonation and a lingeringly smoky chocolate and barrel aftertaste. Love the mouth feel, except the aftertaste. This is a pretty good beer.

Bottle from Dranken Pauwels. Pours opaque very dark brown to black with an creamy tan brown head. Nose is roasted malt, yeast extract, chocolate, vanilla, oak wood, spice, cinnamon, alcohol. Taste is soft, smooth, spicy, roasted malt, chocolate, vanilla, yeast extract, black coffee, raisin, prune. The bourbon barrel has softened the edges of this. Really nice balance. Four Roses is one of my favourite bourbons (under Jim Rutledge) although the bourbon is very subtle in this. It’s added spice, wood, cinnamon, fruitiness.

Backlog, ocena przepisana z untappd, w ramach uzupełniania profilu na ratebeer. Troszkę bardziej wytrawne i alkoholowe niż Black Albert, nieco mniej czekolady, ale to wciąż wyśmienite piwo.

avantdagare (264) - Malmö, Sweden, SWEDEN - JAN 6, 2017
