COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Previously 13% abv, 11% abv from 2014->. Black Albert was used in a new barrel aging project. More than a year ago, Carlo was able to get his hands on a stock of Four Roses Bourbon barrels, and we happily filled them up with Batch „0". This unique creation was originally to be named 4 Black Roses in honour of its heritage, but our friends in Kentucky strongly advised us not to do so! What to do? As the disowned offspring of Black Albert, the name Cuvée Delphine imposed itself. Savouring the Belgian irony, we are most honoured to have artwork by Delphine Boël shining on this label. You will not find this ale all over the globe. There is no export program, but we will try to provide stock through our web shop and some specialty beer pubs.

330 mL bottle. 2011 bottle originally reviewed 11/29/2012. Black with less of a head than Black Albert. Similar thick mocha collar. Nose is light bourbon with a touch of barrel character. Chocolate and cherry comes through, similar to Black Albert. Strangely, not as boozy smelling as the 5-year-old bottle of Black Albert I had. Tastes of vanilla and bourbon up front, but subtle. Much more of the cherry flavor followed by rich chocolate. The bourbon is back in the end along with a bitterness that I find strange. Falls a little short of the base beer here. Well carbonated. Pretty chewy aside from feeling a bit too overcarbonated at points. I prefer Black Albert to this, although this is quite good on its own. Just seems that some of the characteristics that make Black Albert great have been pushed aside by the barrel, which isn’t strong enough to be the centerpoint of the flavor.

Super dark coloured brown body with a thinnish, oily slick of a tan head. Aroma of very rich malts, soy sauce, a bit of caramel, malt and a big dose of anise throughout. Full-bodied; Strong rich roasted malt flavours with some oats, grain and alcohol front and centre. Aftertaste shows much more of an assertive matl characteristic and a deep pungent bite of anise. Overall, a nice rich beer with plent of malt and even more self pungency and depth than I saw at first.A nice beer, but definitely pungent and bitter throughout. I sampled this 33 cL bottle purchased from SuperMarket Liqours in Fort Collns, Colorado on on 05-June-2017 for US$6,99 sampled in my hotel room later in the day.

Pite na Urusie. Kawa, czekolada i wanilia.

Many Thanks for this beer to JefVerstraete. Vintage 2012 and Bottled on 09.2014. Absolutnie, niemal genialne piwo. Zapach sliwki naleczowskiej, nieco ciemnego rumu i cynamonu.

2012 bottle from Gambrinus. Pours a pitch black with a deep chocolate mousse brown head that looks like a coffee pour over after letting the coffee steep a bit. Bourbon, toasted vanilla, cacao, plum and raisin aromas all dominate. Very enticing. Bourbon dipped fudge brownies, black currants and milk chocolate and coffee flavors are present. Chewy on the palate. Lingering cacao nib & bourbon. This is fantastic. Really great stuff from Struise.
