Draught @ Copenhagen Beer Celebration

Pours dark orange with a small head. Aroma of sugary malts, alcohol and fruits. Taste is extremely sweet and sugary with syrup, caramel malts, toffee. Finish is overly sweet with notes of root beer, syrup and sugar. Way too sweet, unbalanced, messy.

ChrisOs Easter Tasting. Big thanks to Harrisoni for sharing this rare beer. Cheers Ian! Hazy amber beer. Short lived pale tan head. Smooth silky palate. Sweet malts, caramel (naturally!). Lots of sweet esters, banana in particular. Alcohol aniseed spice towards the finish. Smooth delivery as always from Struise with the super high abv beers.

Thanks to Ian for sharing this! Pours a honey gold to brown colour with a huge upfront alcohol aroma. Aroma and flavours of raisins, caramel, alcohol and oak also with mild carbonation and CO2 prickle. A long alcohol hum and quite bitter. Nicely done : )

Bottle at Chriso’s Easter tasting 2012, thanks to harrisoni. It pours hazy deep red-amber, with a quickly dissipating off-white head. The nose is spice, honey, golden syrup, sweet tinned fruit (pear, melon etc) and brown sugar. The taste is varnish, wood, very fruity - raisin, currant, prune, date, melon and pear, as well as hot cross buns, toffee, golden syrup and lots of alcohol warmth. Full body, moderate carbonation and sticky mouth-feel. Pretty damn sweet and hot, but quite an experience to drink!

Shared bottle at a Haandbryggeriet tasting session. Thanks to Arne, Egil and Rune for sharing this gem. Pours a near-clear deep red, under a low off-white head. Nuts and marzipan hit the nose at first. Then a big alcohol sweetness. Not harsh, and without a sting. Tones of plum marmelade and dark caramel. Taste is intensely sweet with a full malt body. A prominent fruity flavor shine through as well, like extracted dark dried fruit. Despite the monsterous 25 % abv, there is quite a lively mouthfeel with a pleasant sparkling sensation on the tongue. Long troath-warming finish. An impressively well crafted, and yes, balanced hyper-beer. I love it!

Koelschtrinker (20789) - Köln (Cologne), GERMANY - MAR 31, 2012
Süßer, stark hefiger Beginn wie bei einem extrem starken (aber nicht alkoholischen) Weizenbock. Ausgewogen, fast etwas zuckrig, balanciert, intensiv, vollmundig. Saubere Sache! 12/12/11/14//13

BelgBeerGeek (1307) - Antwerp, BELGIUM - MAR 25, 2012
Colour: amber
Smell: very sweet, caramel, toffee, candy sirup/sugar , lots of booze and alcohol
Taste: along the line of the smell , but with a very sticky sweet palate and a highly alcoholic burn , maybe a bit over the top ?
