COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
"Vintage 2005"
Our PGR has aged for 24 months on oak barrels and has been bottled for the first time on the 27th of December 2007. The main difference with the Pannepot Reserva is that PGR matured the last ten months on Calvados oak barrels, adding extra complexity to the beer. We dedicate this beer as a tribute to Jeppe & Michael of Ølbutikken in Denmark. Those gentlemen were the first to discover our beers on an International basis back in 2004 and are responsable somehow for our beers being all over the globe since then. As a token of gratitude towards Jeppe & Michael, the first shipment of PGR was scheduled to Ølbutikken so they could be the first to launch its commercialisation.

330ml brown bottle. Black colour, off white head is stained by yeast flecks. Decent lacing. Nose is slightly winey, notes of alcohol, some cherries, slight woody notes. Flavour has cherry and wood notes up front, hint of chocolate, soft fruity notes. Dry and woody finish. Aftertaste is very oaky, woody, lingering dark cherry fruit notes. Full body, tight precise carbonation on the tounge. Overall, strong, woody and winey and very pleasing. Great extension to the Pannepot brand.

33 cl bottle poured in to a Trappist glass. Deep mahogany colour with a fast fading lightly tanned head. Sweet aroma with caramel malts, liquorice, tobacco, oak, dark ripe fruits, an alcohol dense note. In the finish the calvados barrel shows as a dry, fruity note. An excellent beer from De Struise.

2011 Vintage. Dark brown color with light brown head. Aroma has sweet fruity notes like raisins and dark cherries with some brown sugar, some roasted malts and a hint of balsamico. Taste starts with the same fruit notes from the aroma but not so sweet, more astringent, followed by a roasted malt bitterness which lingers towards the finish and on the aftertaste. Medium body with medium minus carbonation. Overall it's a really well made quad with good drinkability.

Birra eccezionale

Donkerbruin bier met een vlug verdwijnende beige schuimkraag. geroosterde mout, toffee, tabak, kandijsuiker, whisky, ... Ook iets nootachtig te bespeuren. Heerlijk gebalanceerd bier.

2011 330ml bottle pours cola brown with dissipating beige head. Aromas of toffee, dark malts, tobacco, molasses and bourbon. Tastes of caramel malt, brown sugar, dark fruits, vegemite, salt, burnt toast, nuttiness, yeast and herbal characters. Great balance of sweet and savoury. Creamy mouthfeel and decent carbonation help the booziness disappear. Long finish with mild bitterness and plenty of oak characters. A unique and beautifully dark Belgian strong ale.
