3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
4 oz. served into a tasting snifter at ChurchKey. From notes; 2010 vintage.
A: Pours a dark ruby color. The head is little more than a thin khaki film. Still, it’s very stout-like in appearance.
S: There are some evident tones of nuts, dark fruits, oak, and spicing here, however it’s not nearly as evocative as I expected. What is here, at least, is well balanced and pleasurable.
T: The opening is mildly nutty and spicy. This will progress into a middle of earthy toffee, with a light oak finish. Solid complexity, but the flavors themselves aren’t blowing my mind.
M: It’s medium bodied in texture. The alcohol (seemingly in typical De Struise fashion) is well concealed in spite of its (also seemingly in typical De Struise fashion) dry finish. Very drinkable, as well.
O: Decent, but pretty disappointing. The only brew from De Struise this night that didn’t wow me. Mayhaps the keg isn’t in fantastic shape? This would probably be better if it were bottle conditioned, in fairness.
Shared 33cl bottle. 2012 edition. Pours dark brown with a fizzy, short-lived beige head. Aroma of dark fruits, malt, brown sugar. Taste is dark fruits, raisin, oak, red wine, alcohol. Good, but I prefer the standard Pannepot to this. darbeer75 (985) - Round Rock, Texas, USA - NOV 17, 2017
Aroma: sweet, malty, spicy; Appearance: black/brown with fizzy head that dissipated quickly; Taste: follows nose but with some off notes - heavily oaky with tannin; think the bottle may have been compromised; Palate: heavy body with long, sweet finish; Overall: disappointing; think it could have been better. 33cl bottle, 2010.
Aroma of dark fruit, apple, sweet, some alcohol, maybe wine.
Pours dark brown with a large foamy head, which faded too soon for me. Dirty glass?
Taste is sweet, dried fruits, some alcohol again.
Oily texture. dzudohonor (289) - POLAND - NOV 3, 2017

I got this bottle from leftmindedrighty in a trade. Thanks Aaron!
This pours from 11.2oz bottle(2006) a very dark brown with about a 2 finger head of foam that lasts for the entire session as a solid thin layer and there's some good lacing.
The smell has notes of citrus, spice, sugar...it's fairly light on the nose.
The taste is tasty. Peppery notes along wiith some chocolate, dark fruit, fig, mild candy sugars...this is really smooth.
It has a fairly thick mouthfeel to it, the carbonation is medium to light, and it finishes with a mix of bitter chocolate and maybe, raisin.
The alcohol, I noticed during the swallow but not so much after the swallow. I think I could only drink one of these at a sitting but it's quite nice.
Thanks again go out to Aaron! Grzesiek79 (4433) - Radom, POLAND - NOV 1, 2017
Vintage 2010. Long time ago from SwakPiwa.pl. Po zdjęciu kapselka piękny zapach owocow suszonych, malaga i scherry. Wyglad to bardzo ciemna barwa lekkie prześwity bordowej poświaty, metniste na samym dnie, geste i oleiste, wręcz tłuste. Piana bezowa, średnio trwala i raczej spora. Smak słodycz, ogrzewające cieplo, mnóstwo rodzynek i zwłaszcza daktyli.
