UPDATED: APR 6, 2014 Intensly dark and strong ale, rich aroma of roasted malt, chocolate, nuts, mokka, caramel and fruit.
UPDATED: NOV 18, 2017 Skwaśniał. W aromacie winne, suszone owoce, octowe. W smaku mocno kwaśne, delikatna słodycz. Cierpkie na finiszu, średnie wysycenie, mało pijalne, ciało zanikło. UPDATED: NOV 14, 2017 33cl 2011 vintage. Not my favorite style but one of the best in its class. strong flavour of coffee, tobacco and drop candy. Medium mouthfeel, subtle aftertaste that doesnt last very long. Low carbonation and a high ABV that is very well masked. Barwa miedziano brązowa, piana malutka i od razu opada.
Aromat lekko winny, likierowy, suszonych czerwonych owoców, trochę chleba.
W smaku mega suszone figi, daktyle, morele, orzechy, pestki czereśni. Lekko winne, trochę popiołu, jakieś przyprawy. Alko totalnie ukryte jedynie lekko grzeje.

UPDATED: NOV 17, 2017 Aroma: malt, fig, dark fruit and coffee.
Appearance: dark-copper-brown with creamy head that dissapears quickly.
Taste: coffee, candi-sugar, fig, malt-kind of bitterness. In the back a hint of chicoree and yeast.
Palate: medium to full body, thick on the tongue, soft carbonation and lasting kind of malt, coffee with candi-sugar finish.
One of the best beers i ever had for sure.

This beer pours from 11.2oz bottle(2006 lot E 5 BB) (whoa, it started almost literally foaming out of the bottle as soon as the cap came off but...I was ready with my glass. ;^) a very cloudy, very dark brown with lots of bubbles, a huge expanding head of tannish foam and it has lots of sticky lacing. It's a very attractive looking brew.
The smell has notes of yeast, dark fruit, some citrus, and a slight medicinal nose.
The taste ...oh, wow. I'm getting a lot of caramel malt, dark fruit like raisins & plums and figs and just a slight hop bitterness in the background but man, this is one malty delicious concoction. The alcohol is there but it just shows up as a bit of warming after the swallow and that puts it in the "dangerously drinkable" category for me.
Yummy...the mouthfeel is pretty thick and chewy(that's a plus for the style) and though I mentioned there were a lot of bubbles when I poured this puppy, the carbonation level is no more than medium light. Absolutely delicious. A fantastic example of the style and I can see why it is so highly regarded. I wonder if I can get this in Colorado?? Seriously, for me, this ranks right up there with the best Quad I've ever had. Would I seek it out again? What do you think? lol

330ml bottle from beerofbelgium.com. Very dark brown / black colour with tan head. Candied dark fruits, dark malt, light roast, burnt apricot, spices, figs, plums, Belgian yeast, baked red fruits, dark cherries, weird light tannins maybe, light cocoa powder, light Black Forest gâteau, light booze. UPDATED: NOV 5, 2017 2015 colore marrone, schiuma rossa appena accennata. Aromi di canditi, prugna, vaniglia. Al palato canditi, prugna, frutti rossi, caramello. Corpo complesso, leggera carbonatura, gusto dolce e retrogusto secco. Una birra complessa dai sentori decisi.
2016 vintage: leggere note metalliche iniziali che subito spariscono, il giudizio rispecchia quello della 2015, ma con note di canditi ancora più accentuate, buon equilibrio fra il dolce ed il secco.
