COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
In the early 1900s, the village of De Panne, close to the French border, was famous for two things -- the ‘Pannepots,’ or fishing boats, that could be seen along the coast, and the unique dark ale enjoyed by the local fishermen. Our Old Fisherman’s Ale is a tribute to these hardy sailors and their rich, flavorful brew. Unfiltered. Unpasteurized. Bottle-conditioned in 33cl and 75cl.

2010 Bottle. A dark brown to black with big tan Head that is lasting. Aroma is dark dried fruits (raisins, dates, prunes) a whiff of sea salt, big oak character, a syrupy sweetness like a dark fruit jam or something. Flavor follows with a fairly full mouthfeel and flavors of fruit, not quite sticky but syrupy certainly. If I poured it over vanilla ice cream I imagine it would be a phenomenal experience. Flavors add spiciness, peppery, but around that chocolate blackberry or plum first noticed in the nose. Belgian yeast and candy sugars come in a dark molasses kind of way. The kind of beer I’d want to drink off the beach in Nantucket on a cooler August night. Always has been one my true beer loves for many years. This beer so dark and delicate is a dessert on its own and maybe tomorrow’s breakfast shall be another.

Can’t believe I haven’t rated this one! Pours a deep reddish brown color with a very thin head that didn’t stick around long. Aroma of dark dried fruits: cherry, date, raisin, sugar cookie, light spicy notes, caramel, and alcohol. Flavors were more dried dark fruits, snickerdoodle, brown sugar, treacle toffee, cacao nibs, alcohol, tobacco, wood, and a tiny hint of bitterness. Low carbonation, but featured very tiny prickly bubbles. Complex, nuanced, one of my favorites. Rich full-bodied mouthfeel, sticky and slick. An amazing beer.

[2015] W aromacie nieco słodszy, trochę więcej ziół.Smak to głównie suszone owoce, zioła, banan, dużo przypraw, lekka, dużo mniejsza kwaśność. Wysycenie średnie, ogólne wrażenie bardzo lekkie, alkohol praktycznie nieobecny. 3,7

---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

(2016) Why is this so sour ... I do not know. Otherwise it smells beautifully, alcohol nice balanced. Pretty wine like, not very belgian.

2015 vintage. Dark mahogany color with tan head. Aroma has dark fruits like plums, dried raspberries, also some light balsamico notes. Taste has dark fruits like raisins and plums with some dark chocolate on the finish. Really well integrated flavors with a good balance. Medium plus body, smooth carbonation. A really nice, well crafted and easy drinking belgian strong ale.
