Converting ticks to rates. Had this at RBESG Rome, '10. Brown malty sweet and sour beer, appelstroop, iron, vinegar, balsamic vinegar. Not for me.

Blended thnx to carlo - cheers ! Pours clear brown , no real foam Earthmonk dominates in the smell . Taste is earthmonk , with the chocolaty back . Not over the edge earthmonk . But i like the earthnun more , next to this . Still nice though !

Tap at Brasserie 4:20, Roma, 22/06/13. Dark mahogony brown with a beige covering. Nose is light balsams, soured dark fruits, toffee, woody, big dirty sour wafts. Taste comprises tarte fruits, soured dates and prunes, woody notes, dry rot, sharp fruit notes, booze. Full bodied, fine carbonation, boozey finish. Solid enough sour but a little over boozey for me.

schiuma pannosa poco, persistente, complessa al naso ed in bocca, ciliegie ed amarene, lontane note di caramello ed uva passa, spunto acetico tagliente e a mio parere un po’ grezzo. Da riprovare

Mortlach (2510) - Rome, ITALY - DEC 14, 2012
14/1272012 on tap @ GEIB. Bruna, riflessi coca cola, schiuma quasi assente.

Dark brown pour with a thin offwhite head. Aroma dark fruit, yeast, very light sourness, sweet brown sugar. Flavor is intense fruity yeast, dark pit fruit with light sour cherry notes and sweet finish. Tasty

Cola colored pour with a bubbly film of a head. Aroma holds a lot more wood than Earthnun, with further notes of date, fig, bourbon vanilla, and lighter presence of tart cherry from the Earthmonk. Flavor is wondrous; very much like the Pannepot but the little touch of tartness from the Earthmonk adds a great note of complexity. Great dark fruit presence with a sweet but not burdening finish. Palate is low carbonation and quite drinkable. Very nice.

Dark mahogany pour with a nice white head. Lots of dark fruits- plum, date, fig, and huge cherry, candi sugar, and barrel vinousness. A bit of chocolate and acetic acid follow. The flavor holds massive Pannepot notes with a hint of balsamic vinegar. Epic and tasty! Uber thick and rich palate with a sweet raisin oriented finish. Yummmmm.

RBESG 2010, draught at Brasserie 4:20
Blend of Pannepot 2005 Reserva and Earthmonk
Dark color, almost black, with a beautiful creamy head. Very strange aroma, with cream, tomatoes, sour and fermented fruits. Good body strength; sweet caramel flavor, with light fruits, wood, sourness, acetone. In the final, it’s a bit drier, and some darker malts manage to appear; creamy. A very complex beer, but difficult too.

UPDATED: DEC 21, 2010 A Mes & Sim rate (hand delivered by Alex, Mes & Reakt to 4:20): Aroma of rich apple sauce: sweet but with a serious sourness hiding underneath. Slight notes of iron and leather too. Superb perfectly balanced fruit very similar to the Aardnon but just that little bit more rounded. It could be cranberry. But it also could be plum. I seriously want this aroma in a fruit salad. Looks fantastico - murky red/brown that’s both opaque and translucent. Head speaks volumes with its cosmic cling. Tart, cherry, cranberry & raspberry flavour. It hits your palate with a vengaence, but sweetens it at the same time. Aggresively sherbert. Delicately sugar. Acidic as hell yet tempered almost effortlessly by the soft and rounded character of the Grand Reserva. I could drink this all day - though I know that I shouldn’t. A certain beer girl has learned her lesson with a certain Grand Reserva. One of the best of an amazing repertoire from Urban.
