COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This ale was brewed back in 2008, and in collaboration with brew master Ryohei Sugawa San from Rio Brewing & Co. Our goal was to brew a Belgian dark golden blond quadrupel with an enormous potential of aromas and flavors, and added complexity due to oak barrel aging. Bourbon barels from Kentucky were chosen due to their very special soft roast quality and noble vanilla flavors. Year upon year, different quality controls were executed, and we finally decided to bottle condition this very special ale in May 2012. Another three moths of cold maturing was done at the brewery, so we could be sure about the absolute quality before releasing to our customers.

Dark coppery body, offwhite head. Aroma is huge and soft with candies, berries, some dark fruits and cakelike maltiness. Flavour is superbly balanced and leaves some vanilla sweetness for quite a long time.

Bottle, thanks Henk! Pours red/brown with an off white head. Aroma: vanilla, fruit, wood, honeycomb. Taste follows with peach, caramel, herbs, gooseberries, grapes, raspberries, rye bread, walnut. Excellent balance in sweetness, bitterness and just a light tartness, full body, slick texture, average carbonation. Lingering bourbon sweet finish with enough bitterness and a hint of mint. Lovely!

0.33 bottle. Delicately hazy, light brown color with a reddish tinge and a small, off-white head. Aroma of red fruits, some vinegar, and wooden barrels. Taste of wood, red fruits, some malts, delicate spices. Medium body, oily texture, and soft carbonation. Finish is mostly the same as the main taste but it also introduces some molasses. Overall a really good beer, typical BA.

neongolden (1650) - Linköping, Sweden/Toronto, Ontario, CANADA - JUN 1, 2015
(330ml 2011 bottle from Mikkeller & Friends bottle shop) Pours slightly hazed deep reddish amber with a small, fine cream head that lingers with lace. Aroma has caramel and honey sweetness up front, strawberry, dark rye bread, a hint of banana churro, prune, preserved cherry, and a delightful underpinning of vanilla, oak and fairly ample bourbon. Sweet at first on the palate, caramel-soaked fruit with notes of prunes, dates, preserved cherry, red dessert wine, slight bread. Oak building in the middle with tobacco and vanilla notes, drying, bourbon, dried dark fruits. A slight toasted character on the finish, which is woody with a fair amount of bourbon, lingering caramel and fruitiness in the back. Long aftertaste with almost no alcohol heat. Medium, oily body with very soft carbonation. A real stunner from Struise, the fruity complexity is up with the very best quads while the bourbon is quite robust and adds its own mark without overwhelming completely. The whiskey character helps quell the cloying finish of some quads. Super sipper.
