Pours a slightly hazy, dark copper color with bright mahogany edges and a one finger, frothy off-white head that quickly settles into a thick, lasting ring. Sporadic spots and streaks of soapy lace left behind.
Interesting aroma with a subtle barrel presence that’s integrated into the quad notes of the base beer. Spicy bourbon, delicate oak and silky vanilla bean along with peppery spice, bready yeast, sweet booze and dark fruit esters. Barrel presence has faded over the years but there’s still some burnt oak, spicy spirit and vanilla bean in the nose. Zesty spice with ginger, clove and pepper. Some bready yeast, boozy sweetness and light fruit esters, notably pear, apple, cherry and cream. Also, a touch of caramel sweetness with some leathery malt.
Fuller end of medium body with slight creamy texture and a subtle barrel character that’s nicely integrated into the tripel characteristics. Somewhat dry wit faint oak and a lot of silky vanilla. Bourbon notes have faded a bit but there is still some spicy and sweet spirit flavor. Perfume-y with zesty spice, light fruit, sweet malt and boozy heat in the finish. Strong white pepper with ginger and coriander followed by apricot, strawberry and cream and green apple. Slightly yeasty with hints sourdough bread followed by toffee and caramel malt sweetness. Boozy finish but not too hot. Some warmth in the chest but overall ABV is decently masked. Easy drinking, unique and complex with bourbon barrel notes playing off of tripel characteristics. Very interesting beer. suurjuust (3674) - ESTONIA - DEC 5, 2015
Murky amber beer, small off-white head. Nose is fruity, apricot, caramel, booze warmth, malty notes. Flavor is caramel and sugar, fruity, vanilla, finishes with alcohol notes, more caramel, dried fruit and figs. Nice one. martjoobolut (4947) - Tallinn, ESTONIA - DEC 5, 2015

Tasting at my place. Bottle (2011) from Van Alsem. Light brown with medium sized head. Cognac, sherry, clementines, marzipan, apricot, cake, and more. Very complex stuff, lots of wine and liquor notes, but also massively fruity. Full bodied with medium carbonation. Will have again!! Backlog from 2015/01/09. GSAP (755) - NETHERLANDS - DEC 5, 2015
Hemelse zoetigheid van complexe achtergrond snaken als hout, whiskey, kruid en andere warme items. Ook overeenkomsten met een prachtige grappa. Aroma sherry en zacht zoet. Donker troebel.

Dark amber, cloudy, yellow head. Aroma is barrel, soft wine, caramel, bourbon and wood, very complex. Flavour is caramel, vanilla, whisky. Palate is between medium amd hich sweet, full body. Spicy and warmy alcogolic finish. Very nice. mutz (1098) - NETHERLANDS - NOV 21, 2015
Troebel bruin, veel kraag bij het inschenken. Aroma is moutig, whiskey, romig. Smaakt zoetig, whiskeyachtig, caramel, maar ook een flits rode wijnachtig zurig. Niet heel vol van smaak. Achel (488) - Ioannina, GREECE - NOV 16, 2015
Pours deep orange/copper with a 4 finger creamy beige head. Aroma of medium dark fruits and medium dark malt. Amazing. Maybe a hint of orange. Full bodied. Extremely soft carbonation. Flavor is first bourbon/vanilla, then darkish fruit, then toffee, then a bit more toffee. It’s not bitter, and it is malty/sweet, but somehow it comes out like a non-sweet beer - and then the toffee comes out again. It changes from second to second. Really smooth. Extremely tasty. Just frickin brilliant. johndoughty (5521) - cheslyn hay, West Midlands, ENGLAND - OCT 31, 2015
Bottle. Strength on the label was 10.5 not 11.0.Slightly cloudy brown with a massive presence of alcohol from the start. Nothing subtle about this one. Warm flavours dominate with a slightly smoked bourbon trace in background. One powerful beer. MGantzel (274) - Aalborg, DENMARK - OCT 23, 2015
