4/3/2011 6:19:23 AM Bottle from Cracked Kettle. Dark brown amber body with huge head with tan lining. Nose of burned malts, caramel. Taste of toffee, malts, some fruit notes. Slightest hint of sour. Really nice and lively beer. Goes down well. wazzawazza (60) - Geraldton, AUSTRALIA - JUN 5, 2015
Scent is strong but sweet. Solid head with some staying power, with the taste of the heavens. An absolute winner. One in the cellar for next year. markextrae (4410) - Alingsås, SWEDEN, SWEDEN - MAY 10, 2015
33cl bottle found in a beerstore recently, couldn’t belive my eyes, how is this now... poured a murky brown colour with a off head. notes of burned caramel, overriped fruits, belgian yeast, herbal tea notes, lot’s of sweet notes coming true, don’t think that was this way back in the day, some toffee, pretty nice still.. but can’t camprae it with a fresh version Bierridder_S (879) - BELGIUM - APR 16, 2015
15/04/2015 @home. 33cl bottle from a trade (good until 03/2013)
Hazy light brown colour with small head. Aroma : bitter hops, sweetness, madeira. Taste : hops, light peppery, some vanilla, madeira, sweet. Strange, a few months ago I had another and that one was very bitter and peppery, this time it was way sweeter

33cl bottle from 2009. Hazy golden pour, gushed (infected)... no problem because it offers a rich hoppy scotch ale-ish taste with grape skin aftertaste. Viscosity like barley wine. Aromas of hops, tannins, vinous notes, grapes, vanilla, scotch and some booze. Nice to go back to the Struise past! PriorL (3068) - Gent, BELGIUM - DEC 31, 2014
Sample at semi-S&G tasting (since the music was shut down halfway through).
APPEARANCE: clear blond beer, small unstable white head.
NOSE: little oxidated, madeira.
TASTE: little oxidated, madeira, sweet, white chocolate, peppery, very boozy actually! Alengrin (5249) - BELGIUM - OCT 9, 2014
Very bitter ale, almost a DIPA, made for Waregem Koerse, with creamy, milk white, sticky, moussy head, very stable; orangey peach blond colour, hazy. Aroma strong flowery, peppery and grassy hops, tonic water, orange peel, bitter honey, apple, peach, whisky; citrussy freshness in onset, rounded, quickly overcome by a very assertive, complex, spicy and floral hop bitterness over a caramelly and slightly nutty malt base, very dry and long, some whisky-like warming alcohol but not astringent and in all very well hidden for a beer this strong. Another great Struise beer. ThirstyBird (2914) - Berkhamsted, Hertfordshire, ENGLAND - MAR 22, 2014
Bottle @ RBBSG II. Courtesy of BelgBeerGeek. Thanks Vincent! Pours hazy yellow/brown with a small off-white head. The smell is rich malt and tart fruit. The taste is tart fruit, crisp hops with a dry finish. Medium body and mild carbonation. Scopey (14511) - Croydon, Greater London, ENGLAND - JAN 18, 2014
Bottle at home, must be a few years old. Gusher! It pours hazy golden-amber with a medium off-white head. The nose is earthy, hay, doughy, spice, light candy, pear and apple. The taste is wood, earth, bread, alcohol, candy, citrus peel, sherbet, apple and hay with a dry, warming finish. Medium body and fine, prickly carbonation. No real depth and pretty hot. Not one of Struise’s best.
