Bottle (75cl) 2010 vintage, many thanks Marc! Bottle cap released itself about half a day before drinking, so carbonation was low, but at least the bottle didn’t explode(!). Pours light hazy yellow with a thin white head that’s quickly gone. Fruity and funky sour, with apple, lemon, gooseberries, wood, wheat, some barnyard funk. Nicely tart, but not excessively sour, solid body for the abv, dry finish. Very nice.

Tasting at home. Fles. In m’n nopjes met deze zure paardenstal. Backlog from 2015/09/03.

FlacoAlto (4234) - Tucson, Arizona, USA - SEP 21, 2015
Sampled January 2015
A pop of the cap quickly yields to a geyser of beer erupting from the bottle. Some quick glass work yeilded on a few ounces lost to the floor (to the joy of my dogs). The head is voluminious, light tan in color and fairly persistent given the excessive carbonation. The beer is quite hazy, a white, straw, orange / pale-amber color. The aroma smells grassy, tart with lactic acidity, with some citrus leaning notes, touches of sunbaked woody notes, some earthy, oak leaning aromatics, and a spiciness that finishes things off and adds some intrigue.

The beer is nicely tart, mostly lactic, but with a hint of some more complex acidity that adds a touch of a bite towards the finish. Dried grass, and sort of sunbaked wood shavings play a substantial, though not overwhelming role up front, and the finish has a solid carbonic pepperiness and a touch of woody astringency to it. The beer is light, and eminently quaffable; this is the type of beer that is just so refreshing that it literally just disappears so quickly. This has a nice citrusy quality to it in its acidity.

I have had this beer for far too long in my fridge without really knowing what it was. I should have opened this during the summer at some point, but this is so good that I am quite pleased that I decided to open it now. It has a great level of complexity for being such a low alcohol beer, but is not so complicated that it detracts from the eminent drinkability.

75cl bottle shared. Slight gusher, very hard to pour after. Hazy golden with massive fizzy white head that lasts half a minute. Crackers, gooseberries, sour grapes, light apricot, funk, hay, lemon juice, wool (!), light caramel. Taste is almost medium sour with very light sweet and bitterness. Light bodied with lots of fizzy carbonation. Pretty decent for the ABV, but pleeeaaase stop the gushers.

750 ml bottle Appearance- Murky 1 finger sized, with a hint of foam. Now as the bottle cap was blewn off in my car boot . I just had one remaining drop as a glass. Aroma: Yeast, apple cider, Spices. Taste: Sour and like the arroma, ok, but one sip is not that good. Thin body, average carbonation. Seeing the crazy gusher, I can not say I enjoyed that sip, the extra work to clean out my car. And yes there were also Hof Ten Dormaal bottles there in the same trunk, which have a reputation to gusher, no problems with those.

750 ml bottle. At the Tuulensuu, Tampere, Finland. 2010 vintage. BB 30/03/2018.
Hazy bright orange colour with a huge quickly diminishing foamy white head. Apple cider? Apple cider! Apple cider meets Glühwein. Not very sour. Weird.

olio (10694) - Tampere, FINLAND - JUN 12, 2015
75 cl bottle, 2010 vintage @ Gastropub Tuulensuu. BBE 30.03.2018.
Pours hazy yellow color with a huge head. Gusher alert! The stuff just keeps on climbing from the bottle. Green apples on the nose, spices and some yeast. Green apples on the flavor also, yeast notes, wood and some Christmas spices too. Very weird and quite heavy drinkability vise.

lusikka (7833) - Tampere, FINLAND - JUN 12, 2015
