popery (2171) - San Francisco, California, USA - JUL 2, 2016The beer is a slightly orangey yellow gold color. It’s clouded through, but with Solera Weisse, the cloudiness was more due to bottle handling than anything. Thick white head of fine foam. Better head retention than expected, some lacing. The aroma has a funky lemon character. Lemon rind with underlying Meyer sweetness. The lacto flavor is strong but not bitingly acidic. Fairly solid dose of oak pops up. Gentle wheaty malt sweetness in the background. Dusty, fruity funk. Apricot, pineapple. Very good stuff. Taste is mildly dry. Low bitterness. Some acidity from the lemon more than anything. Moderate oak in the finish. Lemon peel, under ripe apricot. Nice grain sweetness rounds off the other flavors. Very refreshing and pleasant. Creamy, soft feel. Relatively low carbonation. This is another excellent entry in the Brewers Cut series.
