3.2 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Tap at the "brewpub" as Sudwerk Kolsch (4%). Brewer at The Dock Store indicated this was the first kolsch produced in years, and it proceeded to the "brewpub". So Cologne in the back and and Kolsch up front. Damn complicated arrangement in a way. Pours gold with a white head. Aroma is mildly floral and grassy. Flavor is lightly grassy, very lightly bready, but there’s a lot of flavor for a kolsch. Tasty, refreshing, went well with salad and sausage.

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Rating #2800. Sample from a fresh growler from the Dock Store. The aroma has some light mineral character, but not too much. Lightly sweet biscuit aroma, too. Not much in the way of any lemon or citrus zing, unfortunately. Transparent yellow body with a frothy, white head that leaves generous and attractive lacing behind. Starts with plenty of biscuit and cereal malts. Scant sweetness present. Pretty straight-forward in terms of the flavor. Finishes with a little noble hop spiciness. A little thick, and chewy for a kolsch. Would like it to be a little more minerally with some lemony citrus hop kick.
