Medium orange color. Small head. Aroma is nutty and bready. A medium bodied helles/dortmunder. Malts are nutty and a touch fruity. Spicy hops, with a touch of honey sweetness. Well balanced. Light and refreshing, very drinkable. Mouthfeel is full and round. Finish is clean and smooth. Aftertaste is slightly bitter. urbnhautebourg (997) - Annapolis, Maryland, USA - DEC 1, 2002
I never thought I’d ever taste this beer. Many thanks to PsychProf for this Major Surprise. A hint of diacetyl in this malty nose that dies toward the end. Fine, aristocratic hops in the nose as well. A lot of malt flavor squeezed inside a slim body, definite hop character providing firm structure. Much higher level of bitterness than most Munchener Helles, approaching levels found in Rhineland Pilsners. Very flavorful and classy. Braudog (6716) - Yorktown, Virginia, USA - NOV 2, 2002
Very solid malt character with slight hop balance. Very good. VENOM (941) - Connecticut, USA - SEP 25, 2002
Hazy golden light orange. Thin, frothy white edge head. Light carbonation. Aroma of honey sweet malts, minerals and pungent hops. Initial sip is rewarding, filled with toasty malts, a mild honeyed sweetness and a solid hop bitterness. Medium body. Full and stiff. Deftly balanced. Long, lingering malt aftertaste melded with delicately abrasive hops. Finishes with an increased girth and a drier toasty aspect. Solid. Holy camole! If you like the authentic Helles aroma, really oily and thick and wonderfully malty and hoppy with hallertau, as in the Ayinger Jahrhundert, get this one. Fantastic aroma. The taste is almost as good; dripping maltiness follows through on an absolutely perfect, hefty body. The most authentic of all of Sudwerk’s Brews, I think.

A light hoppy nose. Great deep golden color. Lively bubbles. Well balanced, mild creamy bite with some bitterness, not in a bad way. Better than the Singha I just had. Marzen on deck so this one is going down fast, but a good beer for doing so! argo0 (14127) - Washington DC, USA - FEB 8, 2002
Tasting Notes from Fall 2000: Bitter aftertaste, but not anywhere else. Nice smoothness, decent body Dawghouse Brewers99 (91) - Exeter, California, USA - DEC 29, 2001
Nice Malty flavor finishing a little bitter. Great balance. Very nice beer! Gusler (2653) - Tucson, Arizona, USA - DEC 11, 2000
UPDATED: MAY 10, 2003 A crystal clear golden yellow color on the pour, the head modest in size, frothy in texture, off white in color with a nice coating of lace upon the glass. Nose is crisp and clean, fresh and sweetly malt as is the start, with a fair to middling top. Finish has a light acidity, the hops apropos to the style, dry and a drinkable is light beer for me, a s with several others, a sure candidate for the hot Arizona summer afternoon beer list.
