Formerly Sudwerk Pilsner.

A Northern German-style Pilsner brewed in Northern California. Our pilsner is brewed entirely with pale two-row Weyermann, true to the style. A special blend of Bavarian Hallertauer and Tettnanger hops are used during brewing, adding to the sharp finish. Winner of the coveted “Brewers Choice” award for 25 consecutive years and counting.

On Tap at Hamiltons Tavern in SD. Solid Pilsner with a very nice hop note. Just a very clean beer

If sudzy is trying to imitate that flavor of pilsners from the old country, they did it. Everything from the slight veggie aroma to the pilsner bitter bite. Not terribly over the top.

Palest of yellow pours, small white head. Very corny, grainy aroma. Flavor is loaded with creamed corn, spent grain, and barely a hop note. This is overrated.

Pours a bright yellow in the pils glass. Aroma is muted but this is a nice crisp pilsner. Grain taste lingers in the back. Super easy to drink. A good take on a hard style to get right.

12 oz bottle purchased at the Pizza Port bottle shop in Carlsbad, California. Pour is a clear light yellow soft golden with a 1 1/2 inch pure white head. The head falls with thick bubbles. Aroma is fresh cereal grain, along with light floral and nice grass in the back. Taste is cracked cereal grain, followed close behind by the floral grassiness, which has some sharpness to it. Finishes with earthy mineral floral yeast. Palate is light bodied, though has a nice less filtered weight to it. Dry clean gypsum finish. Nice clean easy drinking Pils.

Pours pale yellow with active carbonation and decent head. Aroma is typical of the style, but there seems to be a touch of nut in the aroma as well. Mouthfeel is smooth. Taste is malt forward with the earthy bitterness of a bohemian pilsener. Sweeter than most.

This is a decent pils, but not outstanding. Crisp but not a real distinctive to the flavor otherwise. Still, impressed with Sudwerk.

BMan1113VR (7929) - Los Angeles, California, USA - FEB 18, 2011
On tap. Pours with a clear yellow body and a quick to fade white head. Aromas of grain, grass, lemon and pilsner malt (it seems). Flavors are bready, cornbread, pilsner malt, grassy, light lemon and a touch of salinity. Dry and light. Medium carbonation. Good but bland. No noticeable mistakes, but it isn’t memorable nor assertive.

Sparky (2244) - Phoenix, Arizona, USA - FEB 6, 2011
On tap at Beachwood BBQ. Pours clear gold with a 2 finger white head. The nose is pilz spice and grassy hops. The taste is the same with a nice spicy hop finish. Medium bodied.

AmEricanbrew (7011) - Same Trailer, Different Park, Louisiana, USA - JAN 7, 2011
Clear pale yellow color/ white head. Dusty pale malt, peppery aromas. Light to medium bodied. Lightly sweet honey, pale malt, salty flavors.
