On tap at the Sudwerk Dock Store. From a growler. The aroma is very sweet on this, with lots of chocolate malt character. Lightly metallic. Smells an awful lot light a baby version of their doppelbock. Transparent dark amber body with a medium light tan head present. Decent lacing. A little on the light side. Starts sweet, sugary, and full of chocolate. Becomes extremely nutty in the middle. Like almonds or something. Bizarre. Finishes pretty bland with more almond flavoring. Not much else. Thin-bodied, and just sort of blegh. Doesn’t have the lager character I am looking for. SledgeJr (3577) - Omaha, Nebraska, USA - FEB 12, 2006
On tap at the brewpub. Pours black with a brown head. Strong roasted toffee aroma. Has a mild roasted flavor with a syrupy malt taste. The roasted flavor lingers from the start to the finish, but subsides to a slightly chalky aftertaste.
