Double Black Belgian Rye PA.
You may have had Black IPA, but you’ve never had a Double Black Belgian Rye PA.
Cohort is a double IPA brewed with Pale, Rye, Carafa and other speciality malts that marry together with a plethora of New Worl hops and a Belgian Yeast to create something entirely unique.
The New World hops mesh together to create an intensely fruity and resinous aroma and taste. A forgiving sweetness balances the insane amount of hops used in this Belgian Beast.

rumore (947) - Rimini, ITALY - MAY 26, 2017
From 33cl bottle. Pours black with light brown foam, slightly irregular. Aroma is very interesting: bitterish from the rye, roasted from malts, herbaceous from hops. Body is medium-dense with lots of carbonation. Taste is strong and balanced between sweetness and bitterness in the beginning, with the latter winning later on. Finish is relatively short.

Svesse (9135) - Hässelby, SWEDEN - JUN 21, 2015
(Draught at Bishop’s Arms Vasagatan, Stockholm, 24 July 2012) Black colour with lasting, frothy, pale brown head. Malty, roasted nose with notes of coffee, liquorice, pine needles and dried fruit. Malty, roasted taste with coffee, liquorice, dark rye bread, ashes, pine needles, dried fruit, hints of yeast and an intense piney bitterness in the finish. More than medium body, with a certain sweetness. Solid and well made black IPA, with an impressive bitterness and a spicy Belgian touch. Very nice.

Cask at the Hanging Bat. Pours black, nose is roasted chocolate, pine, taste is juicy fruit, smooth roasted finish.

Beese (3337) - Watford, Hertfordshire, ENGLAND - DEC 8, 2014
Draught at The Euston Tap, London on 9 Jun 2012. Poured black, with a dense off white head. Aroma of roasted malt, pine and grassy hops. Rye in the flavour, with zesty citrus hops and coffee. Finish was burnt malt, berries and resin.

motelpogo (8031) - Plzen, CZECH REPUBLIC - DEC 6, 2014
on tap at hanging bat. pretty damn close to black with a modest beige head; aroma of pine, rye bread crumbs; somewhat harsh with raw sugar sweetness and plenty of alcohol showing, hints of ground coffee, powdery bitterness

Great coffee, roast, burned aroma. Some hop floral aroma in the background. Good off white head, pitch black colour. Flavour comes through with primary sourness, which is possibly rye. Dark roasty flavours then dominate. Too much stout and rye for me.

Taboada (1577) - Compostela (Galiza), SPAIN - NOV 27, 2014
330 mml bottle tasted on the 26/11/2014. Deep dark brown to black colour with a huge bubble beige head. Aroma of licorice, dark fruits and hops. The taste is very sour with a huge presence of the licorice and the herby hops. Roasted and bitter aftertaste. Flattish palate. High carbonation. Beer not balanced. Black IPA? Next one please!

TEJA (3392) - Stockholm, SWEDEN - OCT 24, 2014
Small and short brown head. Clowdy brown color. Hoppy and some belgian aroma. Thin taste and body with a small acidity blended with a light phenolic taste.

mkel07 (6574) - Brisbane, AUSTRALIA - OCT 20, 2014
Bottle from Archive Beer Boutique September 2013. Still not sure about rye beers and this one did anything to change my mind. While it is a decent enough beer it just didn’t grab my attention.

Kavu (5318) - Helsinki, FINLAND - MAY 7, 2014
0,33l bottle @ One Pint Pub. Pours very dark brown with a very high tan head. Aroma is sour malts, fruits and yeast. Perhaps some stables. Flavor is roasted malts, dark fruits, yeast, alcohol and hops. Good stuff.
