Cask; Regular.
A Rich Dark Porter brewed with 10 different malts giving a sweet roast richness that is balanced with just enough hop character. This ale has a surprising drinkability for it’s colour and abv. Don’t let the sumptuous roast malt fool you, this porter is seriously potent & has the potential to take you to another place...

Tried at the Nottingham beer festival 2015. Ruby black colour with an off white head. Roasted malt and fruity aroma and taste. Smooth and creamy.

Cask at Hopinn, Newcastle under Lyme. Pours black brown with a tan head. Roast, creamy finish, some choc. All round cracking full bodied porter.

Obviously lots of malt on the aroma, but this has a slightly thin mouthfeel, and lacks a real porter finish

Sneeky half at the Stockbridge Tap, on Cask, on the way from work. Pours a deep ruby almost black. Creamy nearly chocolate head. Dark malts aroma. Lovely balanced malty flavours and hops with hints of Dark fruits, chocolate and coffee...very slight. An enjoyable sip though not really how I like my porters to be.

330 ml bottle. BB 32/08/15. At the Pannuhuone, Kuopio, Finland. Reddish black color with a mid-size foamy off-white head. Berry hops, malts and some roasty notes in the aroma. The flavor is some rye, malt, mild berries, mild hops and some porridge. Why not... ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Tap from the Bow Bar. Kind of flat, both in liveliness and character. It has an apple-y Englishness to it as well which is strange in a porter. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle at home. Good mouth feel and lots of malty goodness. Near medium body. Lovely stuff.

A colablack, a head is very big and beige. Aroma has roastiness and black coffeem some liquirice and sourness. Taste has coffee, strong roastiness, some liquirice. Medium bodied, not so much of carbonation that could be expected from the big head. Good but quite simple.

(bottle) Initially I thought it was slightly sour, but given a few minutes warming it develps some nice chocolate notes and flavours. Looks fantastic in the glass, deep black and with a lovely persistent head. Not as full bodied as you might be led to believe, but lovely nonetheless.

Tap and it took the barmaid 3 attempts to pull a half. I note that it got rave reviews in 2010 and north of here. Time and distance has diminished its appeal so it doesn’t teleport well. Some of the 10 malts are roasted judging by the scent. Taste has coffee. Dark chocolate and maybe some plum. A beer of this type should have more staying power on the palate. Indeed, more heft overall. Not the best £3.20 investment of the week!
